Ok, here's the deal: I bought a 512 (168 pin) RAM card for my computer. However, when I put it in, my computer would not recognize it. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Do I need to go into my computer's BIOS and configure something to help it recognize the RAM? Someone please help me!

Well all i can really do is troubleshoot with ya.

Make sure its in there securly. firmly yet gently giver a little push in there.

Do you have it plugged in the proper slot?

Does your machine support 512 ram? (Some older computers ay they support 512 but not in the same slot)

Does your BIOS pick it up at all?

Yes, I've made sure that it is firmly in there. How do I find out if my computer supports this ram card? How do I find out if my BIOS picks it up?

Here are the specs:
? 168-pin, dual in-line memory module (DIMM)

? PC100- and PC133-compliant

? Utilizes 125 MHz and 133 MHz SDRAM components

? Unbuffered

? Single +3.3V power supply

? Fully synchronous; all signals registered on positive edge of system clock

? Internal pipelined operation; column address can be changed every clock cycle

? Internal SDRAM banks for hiding row access/pre-charge

? Programmable burst lengths: 1, 2, 4, 8, or full page

? Auto Pre-charge, includes CONCURRENT AUTO PRECHARGE

and Auto refresh Modes

? Self Refresh Mode: 64ms, 4,096-cycle refresh (15.625µs refresh interval)

? LVTTL-compatible inputs and outputs

? Serial Presence-Detect (SPD)

? Gold edge contacts

I do know that I have an Intel Pentium III 797 Mhz processor, if that helps any. My computer originally had 256 ram card. I put in a 64 ram card to give me a total of 320, but I can't get it to recognize the 512.

Ok, did you buy your computer from dell or something...tell me the make and model of your comp

I would also take out the 64MB and put in the 512

My computer was actually built by my sister's brother-in-law. In the device manager, under "Computer", it says Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC.

Also, I thought it was an SDRAM card. The specs say:

? Utilizes 125 MHz and 133 MHz SDRAM components
? Internal SDRAM banks for hiding row access/pre-charge

look on the motherboard in about the center is some printed words like asus, ecs, gigabyte. the board probably can't read the 512meg stick as board wasn't designed for that.

Yep the ram looks to be compatible (i think :/) So to be honest i dont know whats goin on.

What does you computer say when you turn it on?

(as you can tell by my signature this isnt my area of experties, so im sorry im not a great deal of help.)

This is your board right? http://www.motherboard.cz/mb/iwill/VX133.htm

Normally to enter the bios you need to push the Delete key, or F1 or space bar, or esc, etc when you first turn on your computer.

Yes, that's what my motherboard looks like. Here's a question for you. The ram card that I bought has nine square black things on the front of it. The one that I currently use only has eight. Would something like that make a difference? Also, if I need to go into the BIOS, where exactly in the BIOS would I need to configure the motherboard to accept it?
