HELP computer shows nothing!

MoBo: Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe
CPU: AMD 3800+ dual core
Ram: 2gig
Graphic card: Geforce 7800 gtx
Hd: wester digital 300 and 160
power supply: 520w
Cdrom: dvd burner dvd player
water cooling: thermaltake big water se
hey i resently upgraded my psu from 400 to 520 the psu i got was the CompUSA Power Supply with Smart Cable Management, 520W. looked like a great psu at a great price so i bought it. i took out the old psu and replaced it with this one and now nothing happends when i boot it. no display no sounds no anoying beeps so im not sure what happened i tried clearing the cmos by taking that battery out cause i read somewhere that may fix it but i didnt i took it out for about a half hour then put it back in and still no display or sound nothing. any help will be great. think its might be something with the mobo??? plz dont make me take my computer to best buy lol.

are you sure the connections are compatible with those on your motherboard? try the psu in another box to see if it runs. if not, it sounds as though you've got a faulty psu and need to return/exchange it.

If you upgraded, then firstly re-try the old PSU again and see if it works, at least then you tie it down to either to PSU or the cabling.
I presume that the PSU shows signs of life, the board has the led on and fans are starting up.
If the whole thing is dead, and you know the socket and lead are okay, then chances are you've just been sold a dud, get it rma'd asap, then maybe look at a brand name rather than badged psu from god knows what manufacturer.

hey ive tried to put the old psu in and nothing happeneds still. the mobo leds and fans run i i'll have to talk to asus cause it cant be psu the but i'll try another one when i get home and yes all the connections are right

The board worked before you upgraded the PSU, now it doesn't at all.
You must have done some damage somewhere when moving things around.

so what u think get a new motherboard? i know the ram and cpu are fine. but do u think anything could have been damaged by the new psu like ram cpu or graphics card. just like zap done.

Actually that usually signifies no processor activity. If the CPU works then you'll at least hear beeps or more still, see messages. If the fans turn on and the power LED comes on but nothing else, it means the CPU isn't working. Whether that's due to the CPU being damaged, or whether it's a Mobo/RAM fault is another matter, but it pretty much limtis the problem to those three.

Can you confirm that the system that was working had exactly the same parts with no extras added or taken away apart from the changed psu.
You didn't alter anything else at the same time.
Also what is the psu part number (link if possible)would help
Also when you did the initial power up after the change over, nothing obviously happened, other than the fact that it didn't power up.

the only different thing i did was add Thermaltake big water se
so i was thinking about maybe i fried the cpu!!! i needed a better psu to work with the water cooler system so it probly fried it when i 1st started it with the old psu. i just didnt want the problem to be the cpu be a costly mistake. buti was talking to a friend who said it takes a lil more then couple of turn ons to fry to cpu idk. im picking one up later tho just to test it

Unfortunately we are now starting to see what really happened, and you are answering your original question.
Obviously we have all been trying to help, but you hadn't given us all the info, as you neglected to say the watercooler was just added, and that it was likely to be a cpu burnout.
Hopefully you will be 100% sure of the fault when you try the cpu, you must have a very trusting mate to be lending you their cpu after the episode.

If I were you I'd remove the watercooling setup and add a normal heatsink when you try his CPU, if you trash his chip he is not going to be pleased. I always avoid WC, it's just got bad news written all over it.

Did you try clearing the CMOS? First, by taking the battery out for a minute or so, and if that doesn't make a difference, move the jumper, as per the instructions in your motherboard manual.
Edit: These old eyes missed the fine print on removing the battery. Try moving the jumper to clear it.

I ran my cooling system out of the case for a while whilst I checked that it worked and that there were no leaks (last thing you need inside a case)
Suggest thats what you do if you carry on using it after getting things working.
