Im thinking about buying a white psp but i want to make sure that it can do everything besides play region 1 and i my stupid friend told me that it cant play usa music (off of the memory stick) i just want to make sure it can please tell me that it can do everything like a usa psp besides the region 1

It can basically do anything a US version psp can but it just doesn't allow movies from other regions to be played.

ty for answering my silly lil question i will tell my sister to buy it for my birthday =P im also gonna buy a 2gb pro duo =P well im not really even gonna use the psp for the movies if i do i will save my own movies onto the memory stick cuz i dont think its worth buying a $30 movie and not having any updates on it or something (the only thing u can do with a movie is watch it so is $30 worth watching the same movie 20 times?)

I don't think it is. It doesn't make sense to me why someone would buy a umd movie. I rather invest that money in games.

IT can play UMD movies, all psps can play UMD movies but only umd movies for that region eg ceramic white is all jap region so it can only watch jap region UMD movies
ALL PSP's can play movies encoded for the memory stick.

well the ones over at lik-sang are region free , meaning it can play all region UMDS

They must have done the firmware trick
you install the updates 2.0 US to 2.5 jap and then back to 2.6 US
and you get region free umd movies.

Knowing that I have a white PSP, I'll tell you the details;
The Good:
- Stylish and Unique (Show it off)
- Can Play ANY Region of UMD Games
- Has the Supperior SHARP screen compared to the black ones in usa that have the SAMSUNG screen
The Cons:
- The X (which is the activate button for USA) has been replace with the O button, bassically, O is to activate, X is to go back, just like MGS.
- Can only watch JAP Region Movies
Other than all those, there all the same compared to the USA ones.

nope im wrong sorry about that + thiers no such thing as a 1.5 virgin ceramic psp , they all started at 2.0 , soz about that and yer as ravenlife said why would you possibly want to upgrade to 2.6 just to play movies , i only own 1 UMD film and thats spiderman 2 which i got free , i just put my own films on

Sony recommends that u download a JAP Update (you can get updates for all regions from sites like www.psp-hacks.com ). However it is possible to update using a US Update
But why would you want to update (higher than 1.5), as soon with the DevHook loader we should be able to emulate 2.7!
