ive tried many avi to dvd converting programs (cce, tmpgenc,divxtodvd, mainconcept mpeg encoder...)using many avi different files (all dvdripped--divx and xvid) and i get always many blocks in dark places--- they are all considered to be most quality possible dvdrip. my friend converted in is home a same avi and there were no blocks. i saw them in tv. (ive experienced this same blocks in all ratdvd files i converted back to dvd-r) . ive heard that the computer when converting movie files sends calculations to the graphic card and so the quality of the final video will depend in the quality of video card. is this true? if not why am i getting so many blocks? sorry for the big text. thanks

are the blocks appearing on burnt dvds played on a player or just when you try to play a converted dvd of your hdd ?

they appear on burnt dvds but the problem isnt the reading... im sure it is encoding. when i create a avisynth script to load on CCE i use lanczos resize... can the problem reside here? thanks

but even in ratdvds (after converting to dvdr) i get those blocks... they are really annoying and none of my friends get these problems.

ive tried many such as verbatim (- and + r), princo, sony, budget, tuffdiscs... im sure it is from the conversion or maybe the source video has them too but i cant understand why blocks appear on me and with my friends dvdplayer they dont. could it be the resize? i use lanczos resize in CCE cause ive heard it is the best. maybe the blocks are in source video too but after my friend converted them they disappear. strange no? maybe it has something to do with blur?

no even if your encoder has gpu support it won't mess your video. it will calculate as the encoder tolds its too, just how fast.
well i don't know any encoder support gpu processing....
what you need to do is add noise to the scene. it occurs cause the scene is to easy to compress, and i think its already there in your AVI. use high bitrates.

so how can i add noise to a dvdrip so it deletes all blocks? ive searched a little and found this in ratDVD official site:
"I see blocks during ratDVD playback on my PC. The "unratted" DVD is fine. What is wrong?
With default settings ratDVD uses the graphics card for some calculations. On some graphics cards this looks considerably worse than on others. In this case you can try to enable ?High quality scaling during playback? in the settings program. This setting will cause your CPU to do the calculations which results in a higher CPU load and so might cause stuttering on slower systems. "
so the blocks are cause my ati 9200 sucks?
