Car Not Playing Burned Cd's

I have a 1999 Chrysler Concorde with a stock cd player in it right now. The player will not play burned cd's. It plays store-bought cds just fine. I was wondering if it only read a certain type of burned disc, so I tried burning an cd image. It didn't work. Any ideas as to how I can get it to play burned cds? I currently do not have to funds to buy a new cd player, so I am hoping there is a way that I can make use of this one. Thanks.

some cd players will not play cdr. i don't know that there is anyway around it other than having to buy a new one :-(

Your car does not perhaps have a cassette player in it because you can always buy an adapter kit that goes in the cassette player and run a portable CD player this way.

Nah, sadly it doesn't have a cassette deck. I already looked into it. I'm going to try burning cd's at different speeds tonight to see if that has anything to do with it. Thanks

I got the FM adapter for my IPOD and use that instead of the CD player most of the time now, you can always try that if you got an MP3 player.

Yes, I'm looking into and iTrip Auto for my iPod. I think I'm going to end up getting it. As far as the Cd's go, before I burned the cds at 1x the player wouldnt have any response, just keep trying to read it. Now at 1x it says DSC Error. Pretty sure its insignificant, but it's progress.

I got the Belkin adapter, my daughter got the iTrip and had problems with it. The Belkin one has worked out okay, except that you do get a fade out every 30 miles or so and have to switch stations.

I've had a few probs with burned cd's and car audio.
seems that quite a few factory cd players do not like text on the cd. I've had two that either refused to play or would eject the cd when you turn on the car or try to skip a song and claim it is a bad cd.
So my suggestion , if you haven;t already, is to burn a cd without text of any kind.

Burned Cd's don't work in your car because your car isn't capable of playing mp3 format discs

some cd players do not play cdr regardless if it is mp3 or wav files.
if your cd player wont play cdr the burn speed will make no difference

zackstuck, i would try using really good blank media ,Maxell,Taiyo Yuden or Sony and burn at 16x this may work

My brother has the same problem with his 06 blazer,but I did find that
if I burn discs with my old ricoh 24-4-6 burner they play no prob.
I don't know that this helps you but it certainly adds to the mystery.

Firstly,
make sure your burning the cd's as an AUDIO CD not an mp3 cd - the mp3's need decoding
Secondly,
some cd players can not read disc's burnt at high speeds. try burning your audio cd at lower speeds.
Thirdly, try different cd'rs - some of the cheaper ones dont register in some cd players
its a trial and error thing but im sure you will find somthing that will work.
If not - get a new cd player!

For some reason the FM transmitters don't work well with my Jeep Grand Cherokee. I've tried numerous iPod ones and the ones built into XM radios. I have 2 Jeeps and have had the same results in both. Luckily they have tape players.
