Best way to Upgrade my 200 gig Hard Drive???????

Hello
My Current 200 gig HD is gettin pretty filled up and wanna know if theres anything i can do to upgrade to more memory and if my PC can handle it. Im definitaly a beginner with this stuff so can someone help on geting me started to say about 400 gigs? I wanna know the best way to go about this?
I will post a link to my gateway PC tonight when i get home

Why not get another HD & hook it up to an IDE cable?, this will give you added storage. Just remember to set the jumper to slave. Then click and drag the files to your 2nd HD. Dead easy.
BTW, it is not called memory, just HD space.
Cannot understand why people call it memory!

Also howmuch does 200 gigs run about?
if i post alink to my comp will you be able to tel if my comop can handle all that hard drive space?
has there ever been problems with having alot of hard drive space on one pc? like loss of data? thats what im most concerned about.

i know 250 gig is about 125$ or something like that on tigerdirect.com
Oh and every PC that has more than 1 drive bay can fit another HDD

Any comp can handle any size of HD, as for data loss, not an issue, why would it?
Just have a look on the internet for prices!
The link does not really show very much...but I am 99.999999% positive that you will be able to slot in another HD.

the hard drives i posted have like 3 different kinds in 400 gigs. Now i saw that the $199 western digital(the most expensive western digital) has NCQ and looks like it has the best specs out of all three western digitals.
And there are three different seagates and two maxtors taht all have 400 gigs. i dont know the specs. Can someone tell me what has the best specs for each brand?

I see your original hard drive is SATA so make sure you get one of those, you might make sure a cable comes with it. When it comes to large drives, I only speak from my experience with up to 250GB drives, but it all should be easy. Some motherboards come with 4 ports for SATA connections, some with 2. Your computer can handle as many as you can connect as long as your power supply can power everything.

The specs for most HDs are the same, RPM, buffer etc, which one you go for is up to you. You would not go wrong with either of the ones you have suggested.

True, but all you have to do is go into disk management & format the additional space, then you can use it for storage.
