My work pc is ancient and very small with hd space. Because of this, I'm trying to get rid of some programs that I don't need, but every time I go to Add/Remove, nothing shows up at all!! They don't show up if I log in as "Admin" as well.

Here is what it looks like:

Also, don't know if this would be the same issue, but I can't copy and paste anything and am unable to move any of my desktop icons. I can auto-arrange them but thats it.

Anybody have any ideas?

Well,if it's on a network a lot of that crap would be on the server I think,so you would not be able to remove the programs.Maybe someone else has some ideas.
Open up the hard drive and see whats in there.

Everything shows up on the hd, just not in Add/Remove. I'm also able to install programs without a hitch, if that helps.

Sorry, I know this should be intended for our Net. Admin, but he only shows up 2-3 times a month, and I'm the next best there is, as far as dealing with the network! ;)

You could try deleting the folder of a known "useless" program and see if that works.

By doing that, is there any way to determine that the program is completely gone.

-I did a search for it in the local drive and nothing came up.

You could run crap cleaner,it should remove any left-overs from the registry.

Thanks for the help with that. I was able to clear up the space I needed.

Now, not to be greedy, but any chance you can help me on the second part of my problems??

Anybody up for the challenge???

Just to catch you up, here is the issue. I can't copy and paste anything...in any program. Also, I cannot move any of my desktop icons. I can auto-arrange them, but not physically move. The OS is Windows 2000 SP4, and it is on a network.

I'm still reading/trying all of the other options from that link, but it seems like the general consensus is th uninstall and re-install IE. My question is, how would I go about doing that since I can't view anything in the 'Add/Remove Programs' folder?

-There is a pic of what I see in the first post.

That's what I was afraid of! Guess I might just have to wait for Net Admin, who has been awol for about 3 weeks now.

If there's anybody else that would like to take a shot at this, please be my guest!

@boxwrench: Thanks for all of your help! It is greatly appreciated.
