I am building a new computer, not some heaving dream machine, but the specs are in my sig, Athlon X2 3800+.. Right now I think I have decided on the XFX GeForce 6600 256MB PCI-E. Before that I had the Radeon X1300, before that the eVGA GeForce 7300 GS, and before that, I think I was looking at the GeForce 6200 (or6300). I am not a big computer gamer, I'm a consol gamer. But I have been playing Civ 4, and I know I will occasionally play some games. I was going to take a peek at a few newer games once I get my new system up and running. I know F.E.A.R. requires a massive high end card if you wanna play anything higher than 800x600 with AA, but that's not my goal here, to be able to play ANY game at ANY resolution smooth as butter, it's to be able to play MOST games at MOST resolutions without being too choppy. Anyone got any idea's of a decent card under $120 that would beat the XFX 6600 256 MG DDR2?? in a benchmark??

I rum the same processor and have a ATI Saphire X800GTO and F.E.A.R. runs great with 1280X1040 with AA2. Paid $154.00 at newegg and love it. I would recomend springing the extra cash as the graphics card is one of the most important upgrades you can make if you play any game.

Yeah I was looking at it and it looks good I gotta give you that. Newegg does have a better price for that card than some other sites like tiger direct and zipzoomfly that have had a better price on others. The $149 price tag almost makes me want to buy a refurbished one, $120.. I keep thinking, refurbished means it was broken in some for or fashion, but I also think, well they would sell me a busted card... The Sapphire actually come with a $20 mail in rebate ($129) but how many times have you gotten one planning on doing it, and just never got around to it. Geeze, I've gone from a $65 card to a $150... I was reading some reviews and the GeForce 6600 out performed the X1300, so the X800 is actually a better card? Plus my MOBO is a SLI board, and I would like to be able to use that SLI later by simply adding another SLI card... I'm so frustrated right now.

edit
Oh is that Sapphire the 256MB? I am looking at the "ultimate" right now... The cooling seems neat but dangerous.

Started looking at the Sapphire X800 GTO2. Seems like they come with 12 pixel pipelines, but the 4 locked pipe lines are unlockable! I can get one for about $159, and after the pipelines are unlocked and it's overclocked a bit, it's supposed to keep up with a X850. I might be set on it, but dang that's alot of money. Can anyone think of a card that beats this performance to value ratio?? I'm not going to rush in and buy a video card, and then 2 days later find a better one for cheaper! Any more advice? Thank you distorded, great card!
