I am thinking about getting a modchip, but i don't understand the pricing. What are the differences between a modchip thats $50(matrix) or a modchip thats about $35? i know the higher priced one's "work better" but what exactly works better because they all directly boot backups. Also my ps2 is broken, i came across an ebay seler who repairs ps2's, he has 100% positive feedback. He says he's experienced with installing modchips but i don't know. The only reason im considering ebay is because i only have $75-$85 to spend, other wise i would have gone with an offical site. Does anyone have links to cheap reliable sites for installion and repairs? Thanks in advance

the difference is that the higher priced chips have extra features like hard drive support and allow you to update the firmware on the chip.

The higher price ones are reliable, upgradeable via flash, and support a ton of different features. Do not buy a modded PS2 off ebay. At best it'll be half functional Read the Modchip FAQ in my sig to make an informed decision before you buy. Save up a little and get a high end chip like the DMS 4, MI, or CC 1.1.
