Hey guys,

Im currently trying to make a backup of MGS2 Substance on an Imation DVD+R DL. Im using dvd-decrypter to make the image and to burn it as well, however, it always fails at 62% with an ivalid address error.

As far as I know, my settings are correct so I don't know what gives - Im about to try some Mitsubishi media to see if that makes a difference.

I'm using a BenQ 1620 with the latest firmware.

Anyway, I was wondering if there are any differences in the interfaces that one can use? Mine is currently set to SPTI -Microsoft. Is any particular one better for dual layer burning or will this not solve my problem?

Cheers guys, have a good one.

There is a good chance it is the imation media. They make poor quality DVD5 discs, and the DL discs are probably worse.

V9 PS2, flip top, SMD, DVDLoader
Pioneer 107, ritek g05
DVD Shrink, DVD Decrypter, Nero

Cheers for the reply.

I think youre right. I was under the impression that Imation was good quality media.

I switched the interface to elbycdio and Ive got a mitsubishi DVD+R DL handy, so ill give it a go tomorrow.

Cant think of anything else being wrong, i mean, using DVD Decrypter its just a matter of rip and burn right?

DVD Decrypter will burn dual layer discs.
and i assume that your burn can do it?
i also assume that you have a good mod chip or you will not be able to play it anyway.

Get some good qulity media and give it another go.

Thanks for the reply, much appreciated.

I've got the BenQ DW1620 which supports dual layer burning, and I have a DMS 4 lite with the latest bios(1.4). This has the option to enable support for DVD+R DL, however I'm patching the image with the toxic dual layer patcher instead.

Best quality media I can find is Mitsubishi. I'm pretty limited with choice of brand where I live (New Zealand). Ill try with the Mitsubishi DVD+R DL and report my findings tomorrow.

Cheers guys

Just an update.

Successfully burned MGS2 onto a Mitsubishi DVD+R DL. You guys were right, it was just a matter of dodgy media. I have never had any trouble with Imation DVD+Rs and I was always under the impression that they were a good media, however, for MGS2 substance, God of War and GT4, it would always crap out at the layer break.

The Mitsubishi worked a charm - I will stick with them for all future DL games.

Thanks for the advice guys, you helped solve my problem... now if only I could get some help with that unsightly growth on my back... anyone?
