I just installed a new HP deskjet printer on my computer. After loading the software I restarted the computer. When my computer starts up I get the message that Windows Installer wants to load Photo Gallary, but it doesn't load anything. I have contacted HP and gone thru everything with them and they tell me its an operating problem and that I shoul contact Microsoft. I contacted microsoft and tried to download the new Windows Installer but Microsoft said I already had the new Windows Installer. I have tried many different approches to this problem but haven't had any success. I don't know how many times I have re-installed the HP software. Can anyone help me on this problem? Thank you, gandydanc

they wouldn't give me any help because my operating sys is oem and they said that i had to go to the computer manufacturer even though i told them i built the computer. those guys are a bunch of idiots. like you said they only want to sell, they don't want to help fix problems because they didn't install the os, and there not making any money off me.

Well, it is good that you got your problem solved. You can now take your wife to the gandy dancer's ball. :) Are you a railroad worker?

Cool. The term is not common, but I heard it when I was quite young.

Off course Microsoft won't help you out because you're the one who bought an operating system that is OEM. That means you're responsible for anything that happens to the computer. Take a look at the Microsoft OEM System Builder License agreement and see what I mean.

http://oem.microsoft.com/downloads/Public/sblicense/English_SB_Li...

This one sticks out in the agreement.
Quote:
8. END-USER SUPPORT. The system builder who installs the individual software license and distributes hardware units must provide end-user support for any fully assembled computer system. The system builder must place its support phone number in a noticeable location in the fully assembled computer system help files or end-user documentation.
That means you're the one who bought the OEM OS and installed it on your own computer. If something happens, you have to find your own solution. Didn't you ever come to think why OEMs are much cheaper then Retails? OEMs are exactly the same as retails except they're stripped out of their support. Microsoft isn't the blame here. Now if you went out and bought the retail OS, then you have the right to call their tech support because you bought the product and bought their support with it.

@BlinkN take my word for it even if you purchase the full version their tech support is hopeless standard answers are its third party software, Third party drivers, hardware problem or wait for the next update and I sell microsoft products and for a simple problem such as this in the length of time it took to explain why the wouldnt help they could have refered him to the tool that fixes this not uncommon problem

I'll take your word for it philraz. One thing for sure, if technical support can't help anyone there is always the internet at your disposal. There are plenty of information out there, just have to look at the right place. Sorry for going off on you gandydanc didn't mean to. Didn't realize that Microsoft was really that bad at tech support. I usually slove most of my computer problems on my own.
