Yes, you can play an original game with the chip disabled. However the Modbo falls victim to the Matrix Infinity clone bug, where changing settings in the firmware or attempting to flash the chip will destroy it. I'm not positive if that accounts for disabling the chip as well. Be 100% that disabling the chip will not fry it. The only reason to disable a modchip is to play original games online.
