I have a person in my house that is downloading using the limewire client way too much (lets put it this way, the amount of files is measurable in GB) not to mention some innapropiate material (explicit material) so is there a way that I can block the program from connecting with the gnutella network, without uninstalling it so that when they open limewire it says can not connect to the network.

i'd say firewall it or...

go to the lime wire folder in your local disk program folder and delete 1 random thing and see if it will stop it from working.

I do feel where you're coming from... coz I'm facing the EXACT same problem... my search for a solution has been exhausting!!

I started with installing "internet filtering softwares"... and I've bought&tried soooo many... ContentProtect (troublesome, due to too much settings, especially their 'sensitivity' settings)... CYBERsitter (too basic, not flexible enough)... NetNanny (too lenient, therefore ineffective filtering)... These softwares are generally efficient enough for filtering web pages, definitely NOT good enough to filter P2P downloads... BUT IF you're ONLY looking for a software to COMPLETELY BLOCK P2P, good news is ALL 3 of the softwares I've mentioned do get that done!

Problem with blocking P2P completely is that I ONLY want video files to be blocked (since MOST porn are .mpg, .mpeg, .mov file format), NOT all files!! When "internet filtering softwares" failed my expectations... I went on to buying&installing "monitoring softwares".... Spector Pro & eBlaster... great in capturing/recording PC&internet activies... BUT does NOT filter at all...

And so... that brings me to the present day... still searching for a good P2P filter...
