I've just ordered a DMS4 chip today and I'm starting to get together some stuff in preparation for when my chip is here. I read the sticky thread about games that are over 4.7GB but what about ones that are below that? Can you just use Nero to straight copy it or do I need to go down the DVD Decryptor route?
That decision is really up to you. It just depends on what you feel more comfortable with. Personally, I use DVD Decrypter for all of my iso and mdf files, and Nero when rebuilding is necessary....but that (rebuilding) is something you won't have to worry about with the DMS4!
yep, i'm with Jamaal 10,
I also use DVD Decrypter because it was free and easy. That is if you can still find a site that has it. Nero will also work, but is not as easy to use.
Good choice of a chip, did you get the Pro or Lite version?
No you will not have to worry about rebuilding or taking out dummy files or any of that stuff that Swap Magic users suffer from.
Plus with a DMS4 Pro, if that is what you got, it has a flash that you get here: http://www.teamtoxic.com.cn/ (also flash for DMS4 Lite)
The ToxicOS is for the Pro, The ToxicBIOS is for the lite so you can red up on the features. They update them at least once a year with fixes and new features for your chip.
Also make sure you read a few thread on media, do not just go out and waste your money on just any old DVD, read the posts you you can get some quality 8X DVD-R media
Hi cheers for the reply, I went for the Lite version as it seemed to do everything I wanted it to. I'm not gonna get into the realms of downloading and such like I purely wanted the chip to play my backups without using swap magic. Hmm I'll have to go on a Dvd Decryptor mish and try and find it.. any ideas where it's still hosted??
yes, a good mod chip beats Swap Magic any day of the week. And you have a good one.
The only real difference the Pro has is the flash is not just a BIOS that it runs on, but an actual operating system that they are slowly developing.
It can do quite a bit, especially if you plan on getting a hard drive and putting it in the PS2. Games load much faster from a HDD, it will save the laser, and your discs never get scratched up. That and the OS has an integrated cheat device. and there are a few other bits i will not go into as most people never would use them.
