When trying to burn a DVD-R disc I recieve the following error:

"Failed to open the file %s."

And it stops the burn process. How can I fix this error?

Software Versions:

Nero Recode 2: 2.2.6.17
Nero StartSmart: 2.1.0.5
Nero BurningROM: 6.6.1.4
AnyDVD: 5.9.4.1

Problem didn't start until I updated the Nero Version.

Try reverting back to 6.6.0.18 and see if the problem goes away.

Nope, that didn't work. I am trying to go disc to disc and it is my DVD-ROM drive (GDR8161B) that doesn't seem to work. But I can't figure out how to update the Firmware to see if that is the problem.

Where would I get a log from? Or where would I get all the drive info that you would need? Sorry. I have never had to do this before.

Nero 6 history log location: Program Files>Ahead>Nero>NeroHistory.txt

The log will have the drive and firmware version included. When posting make sure you remove your serial number. If you don't have a log, Nero's infotool will give the drive info too.

With the info supplied,GDR8161B, you can get latest firmware from here

The version of Nero you are using is full of bugs, I would uninstall it, run this clean tool to remove all traces
http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/en/Clean_Tools.html

and then install this bug free vaersion of Nero6
