I was wanting to know if you can burn a DVD +R with Nero 6.6 Ultra.

I can burn all the disk I want with a DVD -R but when trying to burn with a +R I get an error message towards the end of the burning process saying that

"Burning process could not be completed" try again with compatible burning software.

Thanx

@ShdwStrdr
As long as your burner supports both formats you should be able too.
Your best bet is to post the Nero log for this failure located at program files>ahead>nero>nero history.txt. Be sure to edit out your serial # - they usually begin with 1A or 1C.
The logs are also separated by this:
====== *** Nero-Burning Rom, History File *** ======
This post is probably better off in the Nero forum - I'll request a transfer.

From my understanding when I purchased the burner a year and a half ago it was supposeded to support both formats.

Your drive does suport both formats - so okay there. Now this log is a succesful burn on Ritek -RW media from 3/12/06. But I see some things that may help the +r problem.

Turn these back on - here's a guide if needed but since you have nvatabus drivers this may not work - (they can be a pain to turn dma back on):

Try these than try the +r again - this may sort it out.

No biggie! Still showed some thingsthat may be fix the problem. The firmware update may do the trick - this will help your drive with read and write strategies on media esp. newer media. Yours is several versions behind.
Let us know how it turns out - good, bad or otherwise!

As for as the DMA Ive been in there before trying to enable it but with no luck. Is there a way to uninstall the Nvatabus. Am I right in thinking these were installed while installing the drivers for the MB.

Also I have never flashed the firmware before is there a guide to doing this. I know it can be dangerous thats why I have never tried it.

I have updated Nero just recently to 6.6.1.4. the latest version through the auto update.

Not done right yeah the firmware flash can harm your drive - but it really pretty easy - takes 2 minutes maybe.
Download the file - make sure no other programs are running and no discs are in the drive. Keep the power on. Then open the .exe file - your drive should be listed - may have to click ok ,go,start. Now flash/run the .exe file - takes under a minute - then reboot and you should be good w/ the update.

For the drivers try the link above doing the uninstall and let windows reinstall w/ it's driver's - that may do it.

If you by chance use DVDShrink the version of Nero you have will no longer autoburn w/ Shrink. So if you use that you may want to go back to 6.6.0.18.

Hey Blinkie7 Just ran Nero Info Tool and it states that the DMA on all channels is on. I tried to enable about a week ago I guess I was successfull.

But I have a new issue since updating Nero to 6.6.1.4 I can't even burn -Rs. I get a TRF error. Do I need to roll back the drivers?

Here is a copy of the most recent Logs.

Just replied then seen your most recent post. Definitely use shrink.

Will roll back driver. You don't have a link to the 6.6.0.18 by chance.

The one you gave earlier was to the firmware. Also tried to flash firmware and recieved message saying "available target not found."

No need to roll back the drivers - just go back a version in Nero. Uninstall 6.6.1.4 then run the clean tool and install 6.6.0.18.
Here's some links for you:
http://httpdl2.usw.nero.com/Nero-6.6.0.18.exe
http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/en/Clean_Tools.html

Glad to see the DMA is on!

Now you just need to update the firmware. Here's a link to Pioneer's site for the firmware - just look for your drive and version 1.22.

Don't know if you caught my earlier post about the firmware, but I downloaded it and installed it but it came up with a message stating
that the Available target was not found.

Any Ideas why.

Didn't catch that! Try the Pioneer link in my last post - look for the dvd107d - down about middle of page. Pick the 1.22 version next to it. That's one good thing w/ most firmware - if it doesn't see the right drive it won't install it - lessen the error factor!

Tried the one there also for model 107D. Same thing. They have another one there for the AO7 but every trace in Device Manager and in the Nero tool say this is model 107D.

Confused? Cause I am.

Just thought I would let you know I just burned a +R without updating the firmware.

But would still like to update it if you have any ideas.

Will check back tomorrow.

Thanx Alot

Just a bit :) But I have a Pioneer drive also - A08 - and I run into the same thing - listed as 108 in Nero & Decrypter but it's the A08 instead.
So try the other one - it will let you know if it's not the right one and won't flash the drive.

Tried the recommended firmware updates for my Pioneer 107D
and neither one would install, both giving the same message.

Available target not found.

Gonna try Pioneer support to see if they have any ideas.

If you come up with something let me know.

You can give the A07XL 1.22 a shot. No where in any progs or device mgr. is my drive listed as an A08XL yet that is the only firmware it will take.
If that doesn't work well there's always Pioneer support.
Another thing I would do is upgrade the discs your using to Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim.
Keep us posted!

Edit almost forgot - try disconnecting the ASUS drive and then retry the the firmware. It may only be seeing that drive.

Blinkie will try the other firmware version.

always have used Verbatim, lately been using the JVC's without any problems. -R

The brand in device, I believe it RiteW is the +R my son bought from
the game store he works at. He wanted me to backup a bunch of anime
that he has and that is what he brought home.
That is how all this started with the plus's.
Ive got all that up and running now it has migrated over to the firmware issue.

Appreciate all the help, will keep you posted.

Those discs you're using are made by Ritek - (from your log)
Quote:

Ritek is okay - some members here love it others don't. I'm not a fan - stopped using it awhile ago (burn & playback issues)
Try disconnecting the ASUS drive to update the firmware- also everything is on the same channel - may be the problem with the firmware not recognizing the drive. You may want to put the drives on a separate channel from the hard drive.

Finally success :0) - It's usually much easy this than this!!
Hopefully that will do the trick with those Riteks.
I know how kids are - even older ones- with their anime (well mine at least!)
