I've downloaded about 30 movies now (torrents) avi files and I have yet to be able to burn one onto a CD-R. I always check the file size and it is usually right under 700 MBs but when I go to burn it using Nero Vision 4 it is always right around 780 MB thus too big!!

For example:
When attempting to burn "Bachelor Party" 695MB using Nero Vision it tells me that the file is too large. It says the file size is 796.3 MB which is too large for CD-R. I know the menu adds to the file size but I've already tried burning without a menu and it still right around 796 MB.

What do I have to do to make these files fit?

Thanks in advance!!!! :)

Don't use Nero Vision. Just use Nero Burning Rom and create a SVCD or VCD.

I've tried that already! Even with Nero Burning Rom the file is too large when the AVI I am burning is only 695 MB.

Avi to burn: 695 MB

Project size when attempting to burn using Nero: 780 MB

CD-R size: 700 MB

the AVI is small enough to fit but when trying to burn with Nero it isnt. Thing is all movies I download are between 690-700 MB purposely so that they fit on a CD-R. How does everyone do it? I know there's got to be a way! :(

Thanks again in advance....

I download a lot of movies that are in AVI format, the average size of these files are 700mb now after conversion using NeroVisionExpress these baloon out to over 2-3 gig so the chance of fitting a 700mb AVI file to a CD in my opinion is not possible, hence usind a DVD5.

I just created 3 SVCDs from full DVDs in the past week. I only did the movie only - no menus, subtitle, extras..I convert the DVD to an AVI file first using DVDx - then I converted the AVI to mpeg using the free version of TMPGEnc. Burned the mpeg file to a regular 700mb cd using Nero.
