i've done a search on this and couldnt find anything here - so does anyone out there know where i can get free software that will allow me to play my music backwards through my PC?

i've just read some stuff on backmasking and listened to some soundclips and i've found it really intriguing. The main one i've read about is Stairway to Heaven but i've read elsewhere that if you play the whole song backwards there are more messages.

just want to try it for myself.

Anyone else interested in this i can post the link to a site that has some soundfiles of the above

try using Audacity. Its a free audio editor, and I'm pretty sure it as a feature to play an audio file backwards.

For the best quality mp3s use EAC (exact audio copy) to rip your audio CDs and LAME to encode them. Follow this guide:

have downloaded Audacity and it is brilliant for what i needed it for so thanks for the tip.

My wife wants me now to find out what the spoken part of Dresden Dolls Gravity is saying - its at 2.30 minutes into the song. I've tried to isolate the vocals with Audacity to no avail - do you of another software that will allow me to isolate the different parts of a song i.e silence the drums, guitars etc and pick out what i want to hear?

thanks in advance

if it is only a stereo file, with all the components mixed together, and not a multi track file, it is very difficult to remove certain elements. it is somewhat possible, but the result will be very poor quality. There is a program that can supposedly remove vocals, it is called YoGen Vocal Remover.
