I know, it's surprising isn't it? Who would've guessed...

They also say Athlon64 Venice core will be the first S939 CPU to perish.
Makes sense - personally I would select a slower CPU with larger cache, every time :^)

I just got done reading this myself. Interesting and a bit surprising considering how well the 939 sells. I just purchased the 64 3200+ Venice core back in early December for my new rig and I am wondering if I should go ahead in the next year to upgrade to the FX 4000+ which is the max my motherboard can take. What do you think.

Hi Zeyf414,
I think your 3200+ is just fine :^)
It has all the modern performance one could require, at a reasonable price.
Don't forget - the Price:Performance graph is sigmoidal!
The price cost of tiny increases in MHz is disproportionately huge.
Nobody buys an FX-60 unless it is tax-deductable, LoL ;^)
I would recommend dual-core Opteron x2 for you, if you were to upgrade one day.
Things will all be quite changed by Christmas time, anyway...
Regards

Thanks for the encouragement. Its that I just bought all new parts for my first new rig in years and I need it to last and I think it will. My old one is a P3 1.2 Ghz Tualatin with an ASUS mobo TUSCL-2 with 512 of 133 RAM. Its as rock solid and stable as could be be.
