win2k wont reconize my maxtor 300 gig hd

bios and device manager sees my maxtor 300 gig hd as some mispelled unformatted hd. i got it working once, but after i installed my new version of ati catalyst and Microsoft .NET Framework it went back to an unreconized unformatted HD. i already got saved information on it....

i already installed all the microsoft updates and the maxtor "big hard drive enabler" when i try to reinsall the big hd enabler is says its already installed...

i got it to see it as maxtor 300 gig in bios, but now when i double click on it it says, "G:\ is not accessible. the file or directory is corrupted and unreadable."

i dont want to have to format it and lose all my movie files...
