Are all the plugs in the motherboard? If you have a 4-pin plug on your mobo (2x2 square) make sure the relevant plug is in it. If you have a 24-pin ATX connector you'll need to separate the 4-pin from the other 20.

there's a large multiplug that connects into a large row of pins on your motherboard - the ATX connector.
The old version has 20 pins and there's a separate 4 pin connector for the processor. The new version has 24 pins on one plug.

i just got a diagnostics check on the pc and turns out that the bios was outdated and some ide cables were bad so i got all that fixed and there is now a display!!

problem is that it comes up with a screen for to boot in safe mode, last known good configuration etc. and i click on last known good configuration but the system keeps on restarting!

is there a fix for this?

if using xp but different motherboard & such than what was on old setup than have 2 choices. reinstall windows from scratch or do a repair.

Blimey that's a big picture on my 1920x1440 monitor, I dread to think what it looks like on a normal screen!

Have you reformatted the disk clean? It could be a bad partition.

Could be a hardware issue still, do you have any RAM / GPUs spare?
