hey all im having a serious problem with my monitor. It keeps shutting off after like every 20mins. I have a Sony montior , which i bought(new) about 3 years ago. My monitor is plugged into my cpu(my cpu is customized) and into my plug outlet. Sometimes when i shut off all my power switches and take out and then put backk in my omitor wire(for my outlet), my computer works for a bit longer but still shuts down. Ive heard some monitrs have a "tube" which can result in frequent monitor shuts off, although im not sure if thats true. YOu guys know whats wrong maybe? any ideas? thx

THE power supply is bad, My Planar brand monitor did the same thing and was still under warranty, they shipped me a refurbished one in 48 hours and a return label for the dead one.

@bykaholic : i think ur right b/c i have several appliances running in my house and when too many are turned on, a fuse occurs in my house so then i have to go turn back on my circuit or watever that thing is called. This happens several times. Im thinking of getting a battery-backup for my power supply.. do u think thatll help?

ur right. Due to my powersupply, other things turn off too. for example, several times my dsl light blinks and takes a while to turn back on again(im sure this is due to my psu)( i llve in a rather old house so im limited to how many appliances i can turn on together. so yeah some things dont work sometimes.i have a TV, router, labtop, and my computer all hooked up in my room and go slow and have problems. but just the past few days, my monitr hav started to be affected too now.

You would buy a new Power Supply Unit and replace it with the one you have know...I wouldn't buy it yet because you have to make sure that is what it is ..it could be something else
