I have just ordered wireless broadband and will be using it with a hp compaq nx9010 could someone please tell me what sort of adaptor I will need to pick up the signal. Thanks
I would have hoped that when you ordered the broadband, you were informed what hardware you would be getting on site.
Chances are whatever you get it will be 802.11b/g compliant 54/11mb.
All you'll need is a card that is 802.11g compliant, it is s standard so all manufacturers should connect to each other if it is supported.
If however you wireless access point has a speed boost feature taking the speed up to 108mb, then it will be a proprietary protocol and you'll need the same manufactures hardware supporting the same speed.
Then you'll have several choices, USB adaptor via cable, USB dongle or PCMCIA card.
Then its down to what you want to spend on an adaptor.
Personally I would go for the PCMCIA card, and go for a good make such as Cisco (1st choice) best card I?ve used, then maybe one of the other makes such as Linksys, Adaptec, Dlink etc...
I found Netgear to be very poor on signal reception, and so have others I have spoken to about their kit.
