Pretty much new computer but games and programses close?

Yeah this has made me pretty angry ive pretty much made a new computer heres the specs. keep in mind nothing here is overclocked,the temps are normal, and there plenty fans in there --things in paranthesis are the things i jus bought
amd athlon 64 (939) 3500+ (new part)
A8V motherboard (new part)
Geil (2x512) 1gb of dual channel ram (new part)
chaintech 6800gt
ultra xconnect 500wat powersupply
1 dvd burner and 1 dvd drive
creative labs sound card
Heres the problem im playin cs source for say max 20 minutes then it freezes error screen pops up sorry for inconf**kinveince. Then today also bf2 just decides to close while im playin then it takes me to my desktop. Also dvd shrink 2 minutes into encoding it jus closes. And ive been on interent talkin music w/e and i have no problems jus mainly with these programs
All my programs are updated but i have not done anthing recently with the bios. Please if anybody can help me with my probelm it will be greatly appreciated.

You said the temps were normal? What are normal temps for you?
Also, if it's a new MOBO, go to Asus' website and download latest dirvers, there may be conflicts that the drivers can fix.

Which model A8V board is it your using, with what BIOS version?
What version driver are you using with the GPU?
What other software have you got loaded on the PC such as anti-virus/firewall?

temps of gpu is 57 celcius
temp of cpu is 35 celcius
The driver i dunno wich one to download theres all this beta driver and stuff for the mobo
The bios version i have right now is 0219 for the mobo
Driver for gpu is 84.21
And program I installed is norton internet secuirty 2006

57C is pretty damn hot. That's 135F. I sure wouldn't touch it. And is that idle???
Take off the side of your case, see if you can get that GPU a little cooler take a little box fan or something and hook it up and blow some cooler air into your computer, try playing bf2 or cs source again with the cool air blowing in. You may need another fan. Check this one out... it's great for cooling video cards and such,

i use 5 puters and my temps are near as below..
Those are the temps ye should be shooting for at idle,or as close as ye can get..board 34c/92.2f....cpu 23.0/73.4f
add more fans as your system is running to dam hot..
or take the sides off and as the member said above,i say use a large floor fan..then try ye game..
my computers have between 5 and 7 fans in them

The point of heatsinks and fans aren't just to keep your CPU/GPU/MOBO from melting, but from getting hot. If you're brain doesn't work in Celcius, like us "stupid" americans, then just remember the human body temp is like 37C. That's 98.6F. That's hot in itself. A part performs best at room temperature (70-72F or right around 22C) your GPU is running at 135F! And that's probably idle, imagine how hot it was in the middle of bf2. You might be glad your games were closing instead of ruining your card or starting a fire for that matter!

umm yeah so i tried the big floor fan next to open computer and i start playin cs course - less than 2 minutes into it it goes to 66-67 celcius but then i switch back to the desktop and the temp goes down to 55 celcius pretty quickly.........so wats happenin is my video card dying?

Jumped to 67C even with a big floor fan next to it? Crazy! I wonder why it's getting hot. I'm not going to tell you to go get a new video card, but we know for sure that your GPU overheating is the problem. I wonder how hot it was getting without the big floor fan. Don't do it, for real you might start a fire. The components in your card could have been permanently damaged, but I couldn't tell from here. The room your computer is in isn't 57C is it by chance? LOL.

You could always try liquid cooling, but at the same time, if your video card is actually malfunctioning, then friggin liquid nitrogen wouldn't help you. A new graphics card would solve your problem, but that's money you prob don't want to spend. If you do decide to get a new GPU, make SURE you get more ventillation in your computer before you install it. You don't want another melted card.
edit. The temp dropping so fast is probably because of that floor fan. It's obviously doing it's job, but 67C? It could have been running at 77C without the floor fan... That's 170F. You could fry some eggs on that. I'll take mine over-medium if you don'e mind.

yeah didnt use know that hot was that bad , but durin summer i use to play at 70 celcius for hours and never had a problem jus recently now that i put in a new mobo,cpu,ram............o and i found out its not my videocard over heating cuz i tried another one and it did the same thing to me (but its nice tho i cleaned out all the dust out of it).......wonderin good it be the drivers for the gpu - it doesnt like it?

I guess it could be. Try rolling back the drivers to a previous version. Also, try uninstalling Norton. I have ZoneAlarm, and occasionally I will have a fullscreen-type game close because ZoneAlarm was blocking access... As long as you still have the norton disc you can reinstall it if it doesn't work. (Personally, Norton would protect your computer better if you put your internet connection line through the little hole in the CD.)

alright well ive formatted the computer everythings gone ive installed the bios drivers, used other video cards, use older drivers, and norton isnt installed yet...please anybody got any other ideas?
