Hello, I was wondering if someone could help me. I have Nero and I'm trying to use it to burn data onto CD-r discs (the brand is Imitation..that doesn't sound good haha but these have always worked fine in the past!). Anyway I haven't had problems, then all of a sudden I can't burn anything. I searched around this site and saw someone say that the Roxio program causes problems with Nero so I uninstalled Roxio, and tried burning a cd and it worked perfectly! And then I tried burning another one, and it didn't work. Ive tried changing the speed to a slower speed and that did nothing. This is what the log says for my last try (says the same each time):

JustLink activated

Caching of Files started

Caching of Files completed

Burn process started at 8X

_NEC NR-7900A
Power Calibration Error

_NEC NR-7900A
Invalid Write State
_NEC NR-7900A\H1 T0

_NEC NR-7900A
Could Not Perform End Track

_NEC NR-7900A
Session Fixation Error

_NEC NR-7900A
Could not perform Fixation

Burn process failed

---

This all happens in the first minute. Could someone please give me a clue as to what is wrong and why it works one time and then not the next??? Thanks for any help

I had problems with Nero and Roxio software also. Go get roxiozap http://www.downloadjunction.com/product/store/15199 and run the program to remove all of roxio software files. Hope that works!

Hi nasayin, thanks for the reply. I tried using that Roxio zap and I'm still getting the same error.

Not a problem but I would update Nero to this version from one of these links

You're always going to have problems here, the recommended minimum is 512meg so I would consider adding another 256meg, in the meantime do not multitask and turn off all unnecessary progs including spyware

OK, I tried your advice...did the Roxio zap again, cleared up room on my drive, and uninstalled the secondary IDE Channel that had the wrong thing listed...restarted my computer, tested it and it worked, the files copied to the disc. Tried it again, and then it didn't work and spit out the same 'power calibration error, ect" stuff. It is so weird how it will work and then not work..and very frustrating. Is there anything else I can do? thanks for your help

@blueblitz
There is only one thing i could suggest, and it has already been suggested.

Maybe i see two things, now that i read that part again.
1. Did you change MEDIA??
2. Did you close all running programs?? and even if you did, with 256mb you are very low on memory. Probably ok if all you ever burn is CDs, and managae your memory, but its not enough if you want to burn a DVD. 512mb is the Minimum suggested for that.
Quote:

Thats not the way to free up memory, unless you got rid of some programs that were running the last time you burnt.
If you have done both of those things, and/or upgraded memory since then, post your last burn log, and we can look at it.
"power calibration error" is usually either media being used is bad, or the firmware for the drive is out of date, or it doesnt recognize the media with updated firmware.
Try all the suggestions, and if ALL suggestions didnt work, post with the last burn log. If you did follow ALL suggestions Gwen gave you, then post the last log in your nerohistory.txt and we can look at it. :)

tried a different media. Your memory is really low, make sure you have no other apps running in the background when burning.

I'm sorry if this is stupid but what do you mean by a different media? Do you mean a different CD-R brand? Or a different program to write the discs? Because I've tried using the built in Window XP cd burning and it doesn't work either.

do you think thats the problem? i burned quite a few cds with this brand and then it stopped working. if it were the cds, i dont understand why it would have let me burn them before but now.
