Hey. Does anyone know if there is any program that can remove the Copy Protection from the JOHNNY_ENGLISH DVD?
I've tried using the latest version of AnyDVD Version 5.9.5.2 Here is the summary that I get for the JOHNNY ENGLISH DVD:
Summary for drive D: (AnyDVD 5.9.5.2) Drive (Hardware) Region: 1
Media is a Data DVD.
Booktype: dvd-rom (version 1), Layers: 2 (opposite)
Size of first Layer: 1960816 sectors (3829 MBytes)
Total size: 3875802 sectors (7569 MBytes)
Video DVD (or CD) label: JOHNNY_ENGLISH
Media is CSS protected!
Video Standard: NTSC
Media is locked to region(s): 1!
RCE protection not found.
DVD structure appears to be correct.
Found & removed bogus title set!
Found & removed Autorun from Video DVD!
Found & removed 1 bad sector protections!
Emulating RPC-2 drive with region 1!
But for some reason the DVD still can't be copied. Is there anyone who could help with this problem?

I have tried using DVD Decrypter, DVD FAB Decrypter Express, Free DVD, AnyDVD, DVD43, 1 Click DVD Copy, DVD For Free, DVD Cloner, DVD X Copy, and Clone DVD version 1 & 2. This is the only DVD I'm having trouble with. Cause this is a new type of copy protection marked as suspect that uses unreadable sectors.

The disk is a little scratched, but the scratches are only minor. I've copied other DVDs perfectly that were in much worse condition. This DVD has some type of Copy Protection that is marked as suspect causing unreadable sectors in the DVD.

Are you using the latest AnyDVD - 5.9.5.3? There is also a ripper in this that may take care of your problem.
What's the exact error message clonedvd/ AnyDVD gives?

As binkie7 states get the newest version of AnyDVD 5.9.5.3, yours is outdated. Also, try ripping using the builtin AnyDVD ripper, just right click on the redfox in the tray and then choose rip to HDD. This ripper works like VobBlanker it will fix the bad cells as it rips.

My problem is similar to what you are having with Johnny English. But when I put a new/just released movie in the dvd drive E:, the light comes on showing that it reads, yet AnyDVD tells me there is no disc in drive E:. When I put in an older movie, AnyDVD reads and opens the disc just fine. I have to think this is a new copy protection and not a problem with my dvd drive.

i tweaked the thread title a little to make it more meaningful :)
i just happen to have bought this movie second-hand today (Region 2). it's scratched to buggery so that's why i suspect DVD Shrink barfed with the proverbial CRC error - Quote: DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.
Failed to read file "D:\"
Data error (cyclic redundancy check).
maybe tomorrow i'll try DVD Decrypter on it, maybe that'll get past the scruffy thing... plus i should watch it really to make sure it even plays..

Thanks for trying to help me with the problem with the copy protection. I think that the read error was cause of the Disk bing scratched cause I had the same problem playing the Johnny English DVD it topped reading the Disk and the movie froze while using Windows Media Player 10.
