I was reading how much power they recommended for SLi video, and with a higher end computer they suggest a minimum of 500-600W of power. To me this sounds like overkill, but I don't really know. What do you think??
SLI video basically requires a little more than twice and much power to the video cards as a single graphics cards (of course). Plus, if you are actually going to run SLI, then you don't care about money, and you probably want quite a few HDDs, dvd drives, etc... So yeah. IF someone was building a TOP o the line computer, with all top o the line stuff. I would suggest at least 500W, I'm using 420, and wouldn't dip below that.

I'm having problems finding an affordable 500W ATX12V v2.2 power supply with a 24 pin main connector. I can find a coolermaster 500W ATX12V v2.01. Is the v2.2 important to have?
What kind of system setup do you plan on running? Do you plan on running Sli and what cards. It would be wise to invest in a nice PSU either way as this is one of the most important components of your system that people overlook as far as system stability.
Also investing in a nice PSU gives you more room for future upgrades. Let me know your system specs (Mobo,Cpu,Cards,etc.)and maybe i can turn you in the right direction for a descent PSU Sli or non Sli.
MOBO: ASUS A8N SLi Premium
GPU: For now a 6600GT, until they come out with the newer cards then I'll upgrade to two G80 Nvidia
HDD: 250MB Seagate SATA
Probably (2) dvd drives
CPU: not completely sure yet, but eventually upgrade to dual processors.
RAM: 1GB Corsair, for know and upgrade to 2GB later on.

Yes the 20+4 pin will do. Some mobo's take a 20 pin so you unclip the 4 pin from the 20+4 pin hookup.
As far as cases it really depends on the case. You should have atleast 1 fan in front for intake and a fan in back for exhaust. 120mm are great because they make a little less noise and provide more air flow to noise ratio.
I do not know your current case but you can always mod it and add more fans. Front & side = intake and back & top = exhaust.
