Why worry about ripping these types when most of us don't have HD DVD players in the first place....

You may be more fortunate than I, the road for me to purchase one of these isn't even on the map yet....

You can bet that they are doing their best to keep people from copying these. I have no idea how successful they'll be, but Shrink certainly won't be able to do it. It's no longer updated, so no new functions will not be added for HD DVD or Blu-ray.
Who knows about the other softwares. If development continues on say DVDFab then maybe it will have a bright future with these new formats. Maybe these companies will launch new software to get you to purchase it??

maybe, hopefully DVDFAB or the other good software outfits will keep abreast of the technology, and keep us ripping in case we decide to enter the HD or BLURAY arena!

Not for me either, not at 1000.00 for a player. I can buy many other things for that kind of money.

I'm sure the prices will come down just like everything else, just don't jump into the market at the beginning! I wouldn't pay anywhere near $1000 bucks for a player.

I can wait, this format will be around for awhile. They are still battling it out between HD and Blu-ray, so until this gets stabilized I will continue on the way I am. Reminds me of the old BetaMax vs. VHS wars. I do not want to buy anything for a format that is going to be phased out quickly, too expensive.
