Is this a good HDTV?
http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Samsung-30-SlimFit-HDTV-TX-R3079WH...

I noticed they offer a 3 and a 5 year protection plan. So can u tell me if hdtv's are known to go bad or is the 5 year plan just a rip off? (if i dont buy the 5 year ill forshure buy the 3)

Its my favorite Slim-CRT. If its an HDTV or not has nothing to do with longevity, technology type does though. CRT (Tube TVs) televisions typically last allot longer than any other technology. Yet, anything could happen so I always get warranties on all my gear. When it goes bad I know who to call.

The hard part is keeping up with the paper work,

dude i used to work at circuit city and i still buy all my big electronic purchases their because i have always seen people and myself very satisfied with their extended warranties. i actually bought an apex 32 inch flat screen there and just returned it last week for a gift card of the full purchase price and i get a check in the mail of my prorated extended warranty. they would of just replaced my tv but i wanted the money so i can get a sony sxrd. in the mean time i was looking at getting that exact tv you are looking at. but anyway, back to the warranty business, circuit city will have someone come to your house and fix your tv if it goes bad after the first year of having it up untill your warranty runs out. thats all tvs 25 inches and up. the only reason i got a refund like i did was because circuit city has a policy with certain brands of tv that they wont send someone to fix, they just replace with a gift card or a like model. so in all, i am very satisfied with their warranty and if i were you i would buy which ever warranty fits your style, if you would want to upgrade if your tv went bad after a few years just get the three year plan, if you plan on keeping this tv for more than just a few years get the five year plan. but keep in mind, you can always upgrade from the three to five year plan. any time during your warranty you can upgrade. atleast that is how it was when i worked there which wasn't long ago at all. hope this helps
