I have a stereo hooked up to my computer via the headphone jack. It works fine exept for one thing when I play music on my computer so I can listen to it on my stereo, there is intermittent static.
Help would be greatly appreciated.

Making sure you have the right plug into the right plugin is always a good start :p

Another thing, is it hardwired or do you have an RCA to standard headphone jack wire connecting them? Also the thickness of the wire, not the cable as its mostly rubber, affects sound quality. A few small things also affect sound quality. The MP3 bitrate can also be a factor, anything 128 or higher should be good. Hm... what else... Well you should never use the EQ of your program, set your program EQ to off or straight down the middle(never use added effect/bass boost via program) and turn your comp volume down semi-low and use your stereos EQ and volume to control it.
The last thing I can think of would be to do this.
Go to control panel, sounds and audio devices, then under volume tab at the bottom in speaker settings click the advanced button and choose the appropriate setting.

Hope any one or more of these points help your sound quality. Let me know if any of this helps.

I have a Standard headphone to RCA cord. The quality is great so I dont think that is the issue buthere is a restatement of the problem. I will be listening to music and it will be working perfectly for maybe the whole day. But the next day, maybe once every 3seconds it seems like it is a whole lot of "tic"s right next to each other but the music is not affected.
Also, there is a setting called digital speakers in the advanced setting on my sound controll. Should it be checked? I though that was just for like.. USB speakers or something but maybe not.

No no, you don't need to check that. Desktop Stereo should be fine.

Hm... you hear clicking? Randomly... Is it in the audio or coming from the computer? Also does it happen randomly or have you noticed this during certain songs? Also how bad is it?

Like is it something you hardly notice or is it loud and affecting the sound? Does it last long?

I'm kinda drawing a blank, but if you give me the most detail, I'll do some research on the side and try to pinpoint it the best I can. Sorry none of my suggestions thus far has helped you.
