Using Decrypter I got an unrecovered read error again and again despite cleaning the disc. Then I used DVDFabDecrypter and it ripped it all on first attempt.

I then copied the "problem" VTO file from Fab into the folder created by Decrypter and went into Shrink. Though I haven't backed up the movie yet (ran out of time) it has passed initial analysis just fine. I'm trying this because I only want the main movie files.

Anybody got any thoughts about this. Is there an easier way or maybe a dedicated software to get around unrecovered read errors. I saw in another post you can tell Decrypter to "ignore read errors". Do you lose anything when you use this?

It worked beautifully. I used Shrink to get the main movie only, backed it up and wrote it to disc successfully.

For those of you with unrecovered read errors maybe this process will help get you around them.

Just to be clear here I tried using the files ripped by DVDFabExpress to enter Shrink. There was some error which halted that attempt, so I had to revert to combining files discussed in original post.

unrecovable read errors means that there is a scratch, dirty disk or bad press that stops the drive from reading the disk! if you used DVDFab Decrypter and got the file you needed then there shouldn't be any problem to use that ripped file with the rest of the DVD files to use in Shrink, or other programs to finish the job. I would imagine that if DVDDecrypter had problems with it then Fab Decrypter should have had problems, too! Just surprised is all.
