I have been getting a few discs lately that I have been unable to copy, most with this "Unknown VOB decoder error". I have tried DVD decrypter(failed) DVD Shrink (failed) Nero 6 latest updates (gives the VOB error message). Tried DVD Fab Decrypter which seemed to work (spent a LONG time on the VOB file that has been causing all the problems) but when I tried to burn with Nero or Shrink it fails. Anyone else seen this before, or is this the latest attempt at some new sort of copy protection? I use DVD43 and AnyDVD by the way....

Thanks,
Jeff R.

jeffncris,
There maybe something wrong with the disk, if this ends up being the case, exchange it for another.

DVD43 and anydvd should not be used together as they conflict with one another. If you have anydvd, get rid of DVD43 it causes more problems than it solves and hasn't been updated in a long time, anydvd is all you need 99.9% of the time.

As long as you're using the current version of anydvd (5.9.5.3), you can use a new ripper that comes with it to rip the DVD's video files to your hard drive, you can access it by right clicking on the red fox in your task bar. The ripper is similar to the one used for FixVTS (http://www.videohelp.com/~FixVTS/), from the original DVD, it rips the files directly to your hard drive fixing any problem with the files in the process. When it's done simply open the files with shrink or nero's recode 2 and process as you normally would.

Get the current version of anydvd here;

Cheers.

Use Anydvd and believe

johnl123,
Thanks, I tried that to no avail. Still fails at 44% no matter what I do.....I'm baffled.
