each slot maxes out at 512meg for a total of 1gig. see if board site has updated bios version newer than yours & see if any mention of memory update. also check motherboard manual & site to confirm memory size as store might be full of bs.

look at top left corner or bottom left corner of your screen as computer posts, should give you version &/or date.

Here is your latest BIOS:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software2/COL4423/pv-14739-1/sp23966.exe
But I don't think it will help your memory situation!
2 x 512MB = 1GB max; that's it (that's all you can get).
You need 2 x 512MB PC3200 (or PC2700 or PC2100). You might as well get PC3200 - but it will run at 133MHz(266DDR) which is PC2100 speed.
Quote: store might be full of bs
Seems so...
ABit AB9 Pro
Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 @ 2.4GHz
2GB OCZ PC2-6400 Platinum XTC R2
ATI Radeon X1900XT 512MB
Enermax Liberty 620W
320GB/16MB WD, 150GB/16MB Raptor
Plextor PX-755SA DVD (SATA)

no but each bios is set for each board & wrong bios could cause the board not to post or do other nasty things!
