Hi everyone,

I was hoping one of you can help me with this as I keep getting the run around from our neighbourhood tech geeks who are trying to take advantage of me because I'm a girl.

I live in Canada and just bought a Pioneer DVD 110D and a LG Reader (HL-DT-ST DVD-ROM GDR8163B). I am burning DVD's on the fly using Optodisc Media. I have never had a problem with this media when I was using a HP DVD Writer and a Liteon Reader. What is happening is the light on both the Pioneer Writer and the LG reader are flashing while it is burning on the fly. When I was using my old HP writer, the light never flashed only the Liteon Reader light flashed.

Does this mean that the dvd is not burning properly? I have not noticed anything wrong with the dvd when I play it but want to know why that is doing that. I did upgrade the firmware on the Pioneer to 1.39.

I hope someone can give me an answer of some kind. Thanks y'all!!

PS. I am burning DVD movies on the fly.

Just trying to learn

Are ripping original dvds or backup dvds on the fly?

If you encounter any burn errors using OTF,then those optodiscs would be the first thing to change.

Both lights should be on because both are working simultaneously.

Most advise against OTF burning, but I have no trouble with it with my Original dvd-5's and re-ripping my quality backups OTF.

I'm surprised that HP writer would allow OFT burning.I wouldn't even dare to use it on my main pc. It is a good reader though.

I have a Pioneer 110D with the same firmware. I don't burn on the fly though. I burn from the harddrive but whenever I am burning the light on my burner is constantly flashing...same with if I am playing back a dvd.

Thank you all.

I am burning a back up DVD-R (DVD 5)on the fly. I am using Record Now.

It's just weird that the light keeps flashing on the Pioneer Writer. I am so used to seeing it being solid when I burn a DVD. even when I had a Pioneer A04, A06, A08. The light on these never kept flasing when I was burning. For some reason I am thinking that when the light flashes on and off that the writer stops burning at that time.

Weird!!!!!!!!

it's not weird.... it's normal...... my reading drive light never turns off..... when it does I know there's a problem! My writer will flash the light on and off and that's an indication that it's working! It's when the light goes off that indicates that it's NOT working or just finished!
