I have been trying to back up files on to a DVD. I have tried DVD+ and DVD-, and each time I try it fails pretty quickly. I think it is something in my backup files, but I have no idea how to locate the file that is making the burn fail. Any advice? Would be most appreciated. PS: Nero says 'Could not perform end of Disc-at-once'

@Mark1751
Go here for your Nero log and post the last one:
Nero 7 - program files>Nero>Nero 7>Core>NeroHistory.txt
Nero 6 - program files>Ahead>Nero>NeroHistory.txt.
Just be sure to edit out your serial # - they usually begin w/ something like this 1A,1C,5C.
The logs are separated by something like this:
=====****Nero Burning Rom History***=====

What type of files are your trying to burn? Which part of Nero are you using?

I'll also request for this to be moved to the Nero forum.

Thanks so much for your swift reply Binkie! Most appreciated. I am backing up every kind of file you can think of, from AVIs to Word. I did save the log, but it is kind of all Greek to me! Will try your advice. A big thank u!

Okay here's a few things to try:
First thing though - edit out the serial # - the 1A23 # - don't need someone else using it!
Quote:
Nero version: 6.0.0.0 (Nero Express)
Wow the original version of Nero 6 - update to this version - 6.6.0.18:

Quote:
Recorder: <AOPEN DUW1608/ARR> Version: A03e
Your firmware can use an update too - the latest is A110.

SCSI_TASTATUS_CHKCOND)
You have a couple of theses - usually means drive doesn't like the discs - firmware update may help.
But the media your using TTH02 - made by TDK - not 'A' list stuff. Try some Verbatims or made in Japan Fuji, Sony or Maxell.
Let us know how it turns out - good,bad or otherwise!
BTW - awesome artwork - you're quite talented!

If i do need a new drive (or two!)then I will shop online at either http://svp.co.uk/ or http://www.rlsupplies.co.uk/ . You are an expert here - may I ask you what you would recommend? Thanks again! Mark.

@Mark1751
This last error is different from the 1st log. The 1st log the disc your were copying was saving to the hard drive even if only temporary.
The 2nd log you have this turned on: DVD-Copy on the fly
So you now have a read error from the disc you are trying to copy from.
When you burn on the fly any little glitch bam it fails.
It's best to turn this option off. Try cleaning off the disc your are trying to copy from also.
Depending on the shape and the media the disc is on your may have problems copying from it. When I run into problems like this I use DVD Decrypter to rip then burn. Here's a link & guide:
http://www.mrbass.org/dvdrip/
http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/Copying%20a%20Dual%20Layer%20DVD%...
The guide is for a dual layer disc - but work for single layer disc also.

Now the one thing I would recommend before considering another drive is getting rid of those discs you are using 1st! TDK/TTH02 are not the best. Pick up some Verbatims.

Also if you are using DVD Shrink by chance the version of Nero you installed broke the autoburn w/ shrink. So you would need to go down one to 6.6.0.18.

Hi, Binkie. Advice well noted! I have put Verbatims on my shopping list. I have also downloaded a DVD Decrypter, thanks!

Onward....!

Will get back to you on the results.

I just dont know - it is a conspiracy! I am trying to burn a dvd and there is plenty of space on the hard drive, yet CLone dvd keeps saying there is not enough space. Have you ever come across this problem beforee Binkie?

LOL - no conspiracy :)
Check your settings in CloneDVD - make sure set to DVD5. (first screen - title configuration)
You have enough free hard drive space right?
