Hey guys, first time posting here. Anyway, a few days ago I tried to create a back-up of Kingdom Hearts II. The loading times are a extremely long though, it's nearly unbearable. This usually happens after my character(Sora) dies, before a cutscene, before a boss battle, and while going into a new area of a world(For example, transferring between one town to the next in a certain world). Now, it isn't my first time creating back-ups. I currently use DVD Decrypter, Magic Swap Disk, and am currently using Maxell DVD+R 1-8x media to burn the game( I burned it at 2x, which is the lowest I'm able to get with my current burner). I've also tried burning it on a Verbatim DVD-R at the same speed(2x) and the result was the same, extremely long loading times. The iso is NOT downloaded, I borrowed the game and used DVD Decrypter to back it up on my PC. The original game played great, swift loading times, crisp battle scenes, etc. I don't understand what the problem is. When I borrowed the game, I uploaded it to my PC twice, to see if that was the problem. I've tried burning both of the uploaded versions, results don't change.
Not only that, but while playing the game it sounds as if my PS2 laser is working really really hard, really loud noises and such. :( Please help guys, I'd appreciate it. Thanks

(If you need any more info don't hesitate to ask)

Again, I apologize for the past mistake. I'd also like to point out I'm using a "fatty" ps2, not the slim version. Thanks for all future help guys, I know it'll be worth the wait.

Yes, I've already searched and read plenty of times on this forum. The only factor that MAY relate to me in that thread is the "cleaning lens" instructions. I made sure I was using decent media(Maxell), made sure the iso was less that 4 gb, also made sure my burner was compatible with the media (Maxell DVD+R 1-8x), etc. I may try the cleaning procedure, but other games run fine. It's just the burned game thats acting up.

I had the same exact problem with KHII. The first time I burned it was on a 8X TYG02 at half-speed, but I decided to reburn it at max and now it loads just like the original i.e. in Twilight Town, going from section to section of the level would take 8-10 sec., now it only takes the usual 4-5.

So you think I should burn at a different speed? Or?..

I have 2 DVD+R's left.. I was thinking of burning it at 4x next, but seeing as you said it worked great at 8x, I'm now contemplating burning it at 8x. Suggestions?

It wouldn't hurt to try since it worked for me unless you plan on using your last 2 DVDRs for something else.

Well.. hmm, guess not. I'll try both speeds then. Which speed do you guys think I should try first? I don't want to waste both if I don't have to, so hopefully it works on the first try.

Did you by any chance burn with Nero Express? Or did you burn with DVD Decrypter? I'm trying it with DVD Decrypter atm, but I also have Nero Express available(Although Ive never tried burning a game with Nero).

Oh, so how exactly did you burn it with Nero Express? Not sure if this is correct, but are you using the "Burn Disk Image or Saved Project" function? If so, whenever I select that funcion, it only lets me select 1-2.4x speed, then max. No 4x or 8x, or anything other than those mentioned.

I apologize if I'm coming off as ignorant, or if Im asking too many questions. I just really love the game, and want to learn as much as I can so I can hopefully correct the problem.

I copied an original disc, so I just chose "copy entire disc". Otherwise, use DVD Decrypter to write the iso on the hard drive and then burn at max from there.

Keep in mind that I'm not saying burning at max will work for you, but it did for me. It all depends on what burner you have, media type, etc.

I know, I won't blame you if this comes out horribly horribly wrong. Not sure if I should try burning at 4x or max first... suggestions?

Get high quality discs for a start. From a reputable site such as svp.co.uk or supermediastore.com and get some Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim DVD-R 8x discs. Burn at 4x with whatever program, it doesen't matter. If it still won't load, then it's your system. You will need to either replace the lens or the laser unit, or recalibrate the laser or even just clean it.

I thought Maxell WAS high quality...

Burnt it at 4x earlier. MUCH better, load times are now much shorter. Still not like the retail, but it's not a very big difference. Let's hope it stays this way. Again, not as good as retail, should I try burning at max this time?

No, if anything burn slower, burning it at max speed will only increase if you burn faster, if you want rid of those problems you are better get some verbatim DVD-R 8x and burning at 4x, that's what I use and I've backed up 80+ games.
