Hello Everyone. Im buying Some Verbatim DVD-R's Or DVD+R's today. I Have a V7 PS2. I use Swapmagic 3.6 to play my backups. I use A External USB DVD Writer called "Samsung Writemaster. Should I get good results with this setup?
I have never enjoyed great success with Swapmagic, I think it was becuase of the media I was using before. I used to use "Dysan DVD+R" DVD's to play my backups. But only 20% (mabye even less) of my Backups worked & when I say worked, i mean extremly slow loading times (about 5 mins for the game to even start!) and choppy Video scenes & poor sound quality.
Has anyone else tried swapmagic with Verbatim DVD-R or DVD+R Discs?
and do they work better?
Thanks for your help.
PS - If only making PS2 game backups was as easy as it is making Dreamcast game Backups!!!

As long as those Verbatims are genuine, you should be able to play them fine. I use Verbatim DVD-R 8x burn at 4x with no coasters and have flawlessly backed up 80+ games.

lots of people here use Verbatim. So you should be fine with those. I have no idea how good an external burner will do when making game back ups though.

Hmm, I can't see why it won't burn, it's made by a fairly reputable company and may be through use of USB only.. hmm I'd say it depends on what type of USB ports you have, USB 1.1 or USB 2?

Before I do ive just found out that my writer does not offer DVD-ROM bitsetting on DVD+R, DVD+RW and DVD+R9 DL media. Is that a problem for PS2 Backups? I read in another thread that ps2 backups need to have the DVD-ROM bitsetting on to work succesfully. is that right?

To the best of my knowledge, no it is not. I never booktype mines to DVD-ROM although I should shouldn't I.. but anyway, It's not nesscessary, I've made 80+ backups and not booktyped them to DVD-ROM.

I want you to post the media ID of those discs please, open up DVD Decrpyter, click MODE>ISO>READ. Then insert a blank verbatim DVD then take a screenshot and link to it.
Press print screen.
Paste on paint.
Save.
Host it on the net, ie. - http://www.imageshack.us or http://www.photobucket.com
Then link it here.
