Does the application affects the DVD burn quality? If so, what Nero version is best for my BenQ 1640 Burner?

Ok, the reason why I asked this was because when I used Nero to burn DVDs, I almost always get an unsatisfactory PIE/PIF scan result. The DVDs usually ends up with a whole long block of PIF errors towards the end.

When I use DVD Decrypter to burn, I get better results.

I use Taiyo Yuden 8x DVD+R. The version of Nero I am using is Nero 6.6.0.15

Thanks

I use version 6.6.0.18 with good results with my DW1640 ... but DVD Decrypter or ImgBurn set at 'max' seems to do a better job ... When you use the YudenT02 discs, make sure that you burn them at 8x with your BenQ .. the BenQ drives love to burn fast

I haven't scanned any backups from my benqs that were burned by DVD Decrypter. I will have to try that one of these days.

Nero 6.0.0.21b and Nero 6.6.0.14 both are excellent burn engines for me and my 4 benqs. I have 6.3.?.? on another pc,and excellent results.

Nero's a hell of a burn engine. Using 4 benqs,a couple of my friends stand alone players have issues on the DVD Decrypter backups, but not the Nero backups.

Reduce that backup target a hair.4380 mbs is about max on a blank DVD-5. Reduce it a little like to 4360 mbs. You can set this in DVD Shrink and nerorecode2-whichever program you compress with.

Definitely keep that burn speed at 8x on those +8x tys. If you run into verbatim +16x MCC-004,they also scan a heck of a lot better at 8x and 12x,compared to the many crc errors I get at 2.4x and 4x.

Newest version 6.6.0.18 works great with no bugs, Nero Recode does have a problem "seeing" some drives but the 1640 we have isnt one of them.
Using good media at proper burn speed combined with current firmware seems to be just as or more important than program used to burn.
