Constant Burning Problems

Well, for quite a while now I've been working with bad media. Yea I know, that's the leading cause of all my burning problems. But I also think it has to do with other factors. We've, my brother and I, been burning games and it only occurs when I burn games, that the game will skip, or not boot up at all. But you see, when he burns the game, there is nothing wrong with it. The funny thing to note here is, he basically has the same DVD burner as me, here's what it looks like- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827131267
So to summarize, my reason coming here is to get assistance with my problem. Maybe, if possible, fix this disfunction. So if people could pose their thoughts and/or suggestions I would greatly appreciate it. And once again, let me thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading.
