Hey peeps,

I have recently been having some major speed issues with nero 7 and my DVD burner. Basically, i formatted my hard drive just to smooth out the performance and when i reinstalled windows and nero 7, at first i couldn't burn anything on the TDK DVD+R 1-8x discs that i had always used before. I have tried Imation since and get 2x(2,400kb) when previously i could always burn at 6x(4300kb). Any ideas what media to use or better still a fix for the problem?
Have tried locating firmware but its impossible to find, even on the evasive manufacturer website. Have read some accounts on these pages and similar that it's a crap burner. Is this generally accepted to be true.
Any help is much appreciated guys
Cheers

Please post your burner make/model and current firmware. It may also help if you post your last Nero burn log.

Edit:

Talk about difficulty finding anything releated to your burner... The closest I came was this link:

I have a matshita uj-830s too, I've found that Verbatim DVD-R will burn at 8x, and Datawrite Titanium 8x DVD-R (the dark grey topped ones, NOT the printable ones, they're really awful) will burn at 6x :-)

Fair enough!

Although I must point out that it does work really well with the media I suggested (my laptop is a Toshiba satellite m30x, baby brother of yours I suspect). I've been using it heavily for a year and although the fact I can't make it multiregion for love nor money is upsetting, otherwise I'm impressed with it. I hated it in the beginning because, like with yours, I could only get it to burn at 2x, but it really is a lot to do with the media.

Good luck with your new drive if you get it anyway!
