hi my computer on start up will stop after half way through,then i have to press the reboot , even then it might and might not start but eventually it does ,ive checked all my wires and renewed them ,when the pc starts theres never a problem with it ,only stops wen in boot but not all the time

Try removing and reseating the ram modules also make sure all internal connections are good.Give that a try and post back,best of luck.

boxwrench ive tried that ,4times trying to restart there,any more ideas ,i even put windows fresh on pc to c if that would help but it didnt
any more suggestions, thanx

try a pencil eraser on the memory contacts to remove oxidation. try 1 stick of ram at a time.

Boot up with no external connections, i.e., printers, burners, scanners etc. I had a similar problem and it was due to a bad parallel printer cable. Once that was replaced, no problems on boot.

once again tried that , i put in a new hard drive ,and still no go. i think my next move is to take the thing to a shop ,ta for help in advance

well tried the pencil rubber trick ,still had to press reset button 4 times before it rebooted

check the can shaped objects on the motherboard which are capacitor. make certain are flat topped not domed.
