I have looked and looked and looked. I'm running XP with plenty of power. I have a new game that I don't want to get scratched up. It's GT4. I want to make a backup of it so I can use it instead of my original. The only problem is.... I have tried with Google and Froogle to no avial. I have read forums and done the links to no avial and I've even gone back to Google and Froogle and gave them the finger!!!! I can't find CD/DVD GENERATOR 1.5 NOR CDVD GENERATOR 1.5!!!! I have tried several 1.2's and when I tell it to generator, it immediately smiles and states," It's Done" and there is nothing! When I try to install/load 1.5 of links I tried, it gives me an error of "YOU SILLY DUMB SHIT" this is for 16 bit Windows Subsystem and an installable Virtual Device Driver had failed DLL initialization, now go suck your thumb and leave me alone! After many attemts to downloading and trying to get this PIECE OF SHIT SOFTWARE to run, you might see where I'm so agitated about it. ANY LINKS TO 1.5 AND ANY HELP would be so much apreciated. Thanks and take care and maybe tomorrow I'll still have this computer in one piece.
Thanks

Hi 3dluis,
Thanks for replying so quickly and the link but, alas I have tried that one too. I went ahead and downloaded it and ran it just to make sure and I'm staring at the same error about 16 bit windows Subsystem as before. This is really starting to bit my rear. Again,
thanks for replying and the effort to help me.

check out the various pinned tutorials as most of them have links to the appz you need.
Thats where I got CDVDGEN from, one of the tutorials on rebuilding.
I have since deleted the installer though :/

Again,
Thanks for the replies. However, as I have stated. I looked and looked and looked AND read and read and read! I have a tutorial for making the backup of GT4 printed out in front of me. I did use the links and the likes to get the tools I needed for the backup. Of the CDVD GEN programs I could find either did nothing (meaning didn't creat which was the 1.2 version) or the one 1.5 version just error out on me when trying to install it. I did a search on my computer for the file "autoexec.nt" that Steimy stated needed to be in the system32 folder. The search turned up that file but ONLY in the Windows/repair folder. I'm at work now, when I get home tonight I will make copy of that file and put it in the system32 folder. I will keep you updated and thanks for all the help.

Status update:
Well, I managed to get "CDVDGEN" to run after putting "autoexec.nt" and "config.nt" in the system32 folder. However, after several coasters, I went to a +RW and after a few more tries have not been able to get a working backup of GT4. I ripped GT4 with DVD Decrypter in the ISO mode. I then used UltraISO to extract all the files. Once that was done, I then used CDVDGEN and made the new backup ISO or IML. Then I used IML2ISO and made the new ISO and started my burns. After no luck with Nero at making a working backup, I tried with DVD Decrypter and and changed the Book Type. That didn't do any good either. I then used EXPERT by GNIE and tried to shrink the original ISO to fit on a DVD5 and that didn't produce a working backup. One thing I should mention here since I'm talking about DVD sizes, before don't any of this, I went out and bought DL disc's and tried to burn my backup to that and that didn't work. At this point, I'm just about out of ideas. Any help here would be most appreciated.
Thanks

Well not to bump this up but,
I just tried another go at backing up GT4! This time I used the original ISO that's about 5GIG and used PTP instead of OTP since PS2 uses both formats. It didn't work and that's another DL disc down! Pretty soon it's just going to pay me to go buy another one and not worry about the scratches that appear on it. Don't know why no-one is replying but, any help in this problem would really most be appreciated.

hello
this game is by no means that difficult to backup,its not easy,but not that hard,so not sure what you are doing wrong
first of all,you cannot use dual layer on a ps2 without a special chip that boot dvd-9
you have said nothing about what you are using,what type of disks etc
start a fresh,calm down,and i'm sure i'll get it working for you (thats if of course you have the right kit!)
p.s edit,i have just taken a look at the guide shown on this thread
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/5/275350 and its pretty detailed,and is the same method that i would have used
you have got apache and the pss down sampler tool?
cheers!!!

@therigdes,
Thanks for that useless input! If you would've read all that I have wrote, you would've noticed that I tried that already! If you think it's no biggie, then you try it!
@ps2hacka,
Thank you for some constructive leads to backing up this game. Of the 100+ pages of printing I did to get a tutorial, I somehow didn't come across this perticular tutorial! Why? I don't know.
I have "Apache" but not "Apache 3" can't seem to loacate it and YES, I have searched. Believe me, I'd much rather do it myself than ask for help all the time! I'm not new to this stuff and everything I have is modded! Also I don't have and can't seem to locate "pss down sampler tool" either! One thing either I'm doing wrong or people don't realize is when you post the links where to get the files you need, and you post it on that damn "yousendit" it doesn't stay there forever! It's ONLY good for a number of days or a number of downloads which ever comes first. So, as stated unless I'm doing something wrong, a lot of the links that are shown are DEAD!
Well, looking at the link you supplied for me I did notice something different. In the tutorial it shows Apache 3 and I'm using Apache 1.1.
When I opened my ISO (which was ripped with DVD Decrypter and is the same size as stated in the tutorial)with Apache 1.1 I see no "layer 0" or "layer 1" nor do I see the Playstation 2 Icon. Is this new in Apache 3? If so, I guess I can't go any farther until I can get that version. If you have an idea where I can get it, I'd sure appreciate it.
Thanks

An Update again!,
I managed to find "Apache 3"! One thing I should point out if someone else is having problems too is: DON'T CHECK FOR AN UPDATE! I did and when it was done, opened a DOS box, then closed itself out and added a file called loader and deleted the execute file! So, I emptied the folder and added all the files from the rar program I was using and started over. This time, I canceled the update check and then ran into some 16 bit errors and ignored them and got Apache 3 to run. As I had thought, the older version of Apache doesn't see both layers and so on 3 I was able to extract the first layer. Now,
I can't for the life of me fine "GT4 DVD5 Ripper! that's downloadable!!! Any suggestions?
Thanks

SUCCESS!!!!
Thanks to all for the help and especially "ps2hacka"!!!! Though I don't get the title screen and it doesn't play unless I push a button. It's no matter. I really didn't want to register to another site but, if that's what it was going to take to get the tools I needed, then so be it.
AGAIN, THANKS

If your chip is DVD9 compatible, meaning it will play DVD9 originals.
and you happen to have any DVD DL discs left and have no use for them you can try this.
Get Toxic DL Patcher, use that and patch the original ISO and burn to a DL DVD
It is a program that is used to let your PS2 DVD9 enabled chip play DVD9 back ups. Sorry for the late post but i just thought i would add this in just in case you want to have the whole game as a back up and not just a ripped down version

Hey Steimy!
I just tried what you suggested with "Toxic DL Patcher" and now the game runs flawlessly!!! It's playing now as I type this. Thanks, for the idea! Graphics and Music is awesome! Again, thanks for all your help!
@Tallen8,
I tried the same link too and got the same results! Try the link that "ps2hacka" supplied in this tread! You'll have to register but, you should be able to find everything you need there. That's where I got my stuff from.....some of it anyway!
Have fun!

great to hear, Toxic DL Patcher is a little known program made by the people who make the flash for the DMS4 Pro chip that will play DVD9 back ups. They found a way you could patch a game so that all chips that would play a DVD9 original would now play the DVD9 back up.
Plus then you do not have to shrink it and loose all the extra materials. Just patch and burn :)
