Hi guys, I'm Claire and I'm new to the PS2 scene and I want to try the Slide Card/Flip Top method described in the link below and I just wanted to asks a few questions and hopefully not end up sounding like a retard in the process, Well hear they are:

1st Question: I already own a Gameshark 2 v4.1 will this work allright?

2nd Question: What are some of the larger Original-TOC discs? preferably 4GB or over. (I've heard that GTA and 24 are, but I just wanted to know any alternatives)

Last Question: Is it just better to get a Swap Magic? and if so why is it better?

Before any one gets mad at me, I just want to say sorry if this information was posted in another thread please link me there, I couldn't find anything about it. (Maybe I'm just dumb and missed it though)
Thanks in Advance, you guys are awesome!

1)I don't think you can utilise your game shark when "Swapping" but there might be some kind of exploit???????

2)I think I used to use GTA sanandreas but theres probably bigger TOC's out recently.

3)I started with doing what your thinking of, Then I decided to get swap magic and could'nt believe how much simpler swapmagic made it. And it was less dangerous for my PS2 cause the other method has so many inconsistencies, human errors, speed of hand, learning curve of doing it well etc.
I now use HD Advance which I like even more, but keep my Swapmagic in the cupboard for when I get a rare game that HDA doesn't like. (such as starwars battlefront 2). HDA will also save your Laser.

4) beyond the above it seems modchips like DMS4 are the utimate PS2 Mod.

I would tend to agree. Just get a combo pack from an online store that has the fliptop or slidecard with Swap Magic
It will be much easier for sure, and that is what Swap Magic is made to do. Gameshark is not.
The fliptop i think is the easier of the two to use.
and a GOOD mod chip is by far the best way to mod your PS2
It has many advantages over Swap Magic.
With Swap Magic i never ran into the "insert a larger TOC disc" thing myself. But it has been a while since i used it, once i bought a premodded system with a DMS4 Pro Chip the old V7 with Fliptop went in the closet and never returned.

Ok, cool thanks for the input I know that a mod chip is the best way to go but I'm wimpy and don't want to open my PS2 yet, I may later. Which is weird because I Modded and Fixed up my Xbox without a second thought, I guess the PS2 just seems more fragile or something, I don't know. Any ways I always thought If I was going to do the HDD thing I would wait until I modded it, but that saving the laser idea seems very appealing. so I guess it's just between the HD Advance and Swap Magic, But I've heard that a couple games such as Kingdom Hearts II, don't like HDA all that much. So any other words of advice?

Thanks again for the suggestions guys!

95% of games (perhaps more) will work with HD Advance. With the introduction of Dual layer games (DVD-9) things got a little trickier but HDA 3.0 can play Dual layers but you need to load those to your HDD via your P.C. (Pretty easy stuff with a USB enclosure or IDE to USB converter cable and freeware called Winhiip).
Some dual layers can be "rebuilt" to take out stuff you don't essentially need to play the game and then they are small enough to be DVD-5.
Don't be phased by the above, if you have modded your XBOX you sound fairly confident in such tinkerings. Its just something new to get used to.
