Hi, recently my SONY DRU-710A died, throught out his 1 year life he served me well and none coasters were burn, during that time I also learned all this PI/PO stuff, and I found my Sony gave me reliable results with media like, SONY, PRODISC,TAIYO YUDEN,MCC etc, which resulted in a nice PI/PO (PI: Less than 10 avg, no more than 150,000) scan after a smooth 4x burn. I wanted to buy something that was up to this quality and if possbile better, I heard Plextor were really good quality burners, although it lower 740A is a rebranded Benq its premium series its really nice, so after some research I found the one:

Plextor 760A a new and sexy ;) burner, through the time I had no burner my HD acumulated 80gig of stuff to burn (alot of DVD to burn),and so I started my work, and nonetheless I found this burner is only capable of burning at 6x with MCC G03, I reluctantly accepted this issue, taking the fact that the difference between 4x (my acostumed burn speed with my previous burner) and 6x was only 2x and I though due to the quality of this plextor I will not notice, so I burned two movies at 6x and well they seem to be detectable in 2 dvds and 1 dvd rom (I have had no time to see them), but in the PI/PO scan revealed shocking results, the scan looked like a wave, with number between 100-130 in the first megs, however the wave when down really fast and passing the 1st gig mark number were reduced to an acceptable mark 0-7, looking for the problem I found the disks that where burned have a noticable change in color, passing that mark, which make me think that the drive a different velocity in the 1st gig, so my question is:

How can I solve this problem, and does this test are good enough for me to do nothin?

Has anyone suffered this problem too?

PD:

Just so you know:
Im sure DMA is activated, and tried changing nero version.

Thanx alot

hi, long time no see...

anyways, you got a Nero log for me to dissect ?, that'd be easier for me as logs are easy, i'm not as au fait with scans but you could post them too and others would spot stuff in the scans probably...

Problem solved, I changed from DVD-R MCC03 to DVD+R MCC04 and look at the difference almost a perfect burn I could say lol.. It seems like the autostrategy in the plextor is not optimized for the MCC03 DVD-R I had, I have another 50 spindle(MCC03 DVD-R) waiting to be opened but for now I have another 50 spindle (MCC04 DVD+R) which is the one Im using, maybe the MCC03 I had were a bad batch (I trouly doubt), or maybe the Autostrategy in the drive is giving me a hard time, which is the possible one, so Ill wait for a firmware upgrade to open the new batch. Now the burn.

DVD+R MCC04 (Verb DVD+R 16x): Burned @ 16x with PLEXTOR 760A.

Thanx, for the council, next time Ill buy Yuden spindles, but for know Im stuck with a 100Mcc disk, maybe Ill try to sell them and buy some Yuden to get better burns.

Still MCC should not be giving me problems, because they are top quality disc, odd enough Scans of DVD-R are really dissapointing, but Scans of DVD+R MCC are almost perfect I could say.
