Hello, everyone. I am new to the PS2 modding scene etc, but I had a few minor questions. I am being as respectful as I am, because I love afterdawn and everything they have to offer. I have also read all the rules and regulations, and everything they told you to read before you post.

Okay, I have a V7 ps2. Someone is giving me another ps2, and I know it'll be v1-10, so that's okay. (Planning on getting the v1-10 one modded)

I am pretty sure the one that the guy will give me is a version 7 PS2 by the way.

Anyhow, I am a little mad. I have a pack of 30 8X Memorex DVD-R's and I don't want them to go to waste... I also have a pack of 25 kHypermedia DVD+R's.

You see, the writer that I have now is a DVD+RW, and for my birthday (4/19) I am planning on getting a double layer DVD+RW/DVD-RW. I am also planning on getting that chip. (I have a friend that'll put it into my ps2!)

Okay, one question that I have right now is this: I backed up four of my games so far... God of War, Resident Evil 4, Soul Calibur III, and Kingdom Hearts. When I backed them all up, DVDDE*****ER created a mds file, which I think is an originized text file on how the iso is supposed to burn. However, is it okay if I just select the ISO in DVD DE*****ER when I burn them and just delete that mds?

I also understand that you should burn a DVD on half the DVD's burn speed. Is that true? I always used 1X to burn my xbox games, and I only had 1 freeze up in Fight Night Round 3. (I think it was because.... well heck, I dunno!)

I plan on getting some verbatim/maxell DVD's so yeah.....

I know I need to burn a DVD and test it on my PS2 to see which media works the best, so I can get that modchip type. (Already know the chip I'm going to get.

Thank's everyone a whole lot for EVERYTHING!!!!!

You seem to have hit the nail on the head except I would highly advise you to either bin your memorex or use them solely for the purpose of backing up data and buy some official Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim, also 1x is a little slow for 8x media you'll probably find that you'll get alot more compatability burning 8x at 4x.

U can also go a little cheaper! MAXELL has worked great for me! Not even
1 failure! But yea if u want decent media use vebatim or taiyo yuden!

Hope it helps!

When I burn in Decrypter I always just select the iso and ignore the MDS file.

I have maxellDVD-R's and Sony DVD+R

You can't booktype as DVD-ROM with -R and had problems playing some games even after rebuilt.... So I just use my maxell's for data backup and stick to the sonys for ps2 backups, which work great when booktyping as DVD-ROM.

Yes if your burner supports booktyping then I highly advise you to get plus format however if your unlucky like me and your burner doesn't support booktyping then go for minus format.

But I get it.... Memorex is just about... trash.

Also, has anyone ever had success with a clone chip of Matrix called "ModBo?"

Thanks...

Wouldn't of thought so did you actually buy it as a matrix or modbo as in some of the English site there actually gracious enough to call it the modbo and it costs £10, instead of scamming people who think there actually buying a Matix Infinity for £40.

No, I understand it is a clone chip. You see, if you change the settings or turn the chip off, it'll fry it lol...

I'm using it for the bare minimum.... my ps2 backups.

no wait! v3.0 is the old version! I must get Modbo 520, Modbo 530, Modbo 745 and Modbo 760.... or something on those lines lol!

Hey, you got an MSN?

ttyl
