Heres what I posted in the other thread -

This is just the way I would do it (using tools widely available). I would first rip the movie using DVDFab Decrypter (www.DVDIdle.com). I would use this because it can rip protected discs without software like AnyDVD or DVD43Free running. I would then open up DVD Shrink. Once in DVD Shrink select EDIT, then PREFERENCES. Underneath were it says "Target DVD Size" I would open up the drop down menu an select "Custom". Then to the right of this menu there is a white box with "MB" next to it change this to 1,000 (1GB) or whatever size you want. Select the main movie files in shrink, and hit backup. In the resulting pop-up window the first option is something like "Output or Destination" select "ISO Image File" NOT " ISO Image File Burn w/ Decrypter". Then hit ok/backup and after it is all done you will have a ISO image file of 1GB (or whatever size you specified in the Preferences window) you can then mount this image using many tools. One notably being Daemon Tools. If I made this "guide" to vague I can go into more detail. ttyl

Yes, there is a FREE program that can play ISO files. It is program called Daemon Tools.(google it its the first result). If you are unfamiliar with how ISO's are played heres a some info. ISO's are in essence virtual cd's/DVD's. The computer recognizes them as a cd/dvd. But how do you put a virtual cd/dvd in a CD/DVD Drive??? Simple put it in a virtual CD/DVD Drive! With Daemon Tools it allows you to create up to 4 virtual CD/DVD Drives. And using this you can mount(insert) your virtual CD/DVD to your virtual CD/DVD Drive. And don't forget to unmount (eject) it when your done or you will waste CPU power. Thats pretty basic abouth how it works but you get the idea.

Free software to play ISO's = Daemon Tools
DO NOT forget to unmount(eject) the ISO from the virtual drive

I think you can try DVD to iPod Ripper(develop by Wondershare).
It use the latest mp4 enconde technology--H.264, rip the DVD into mp4 without lost quality but just as 1/10 of the original files.
You can download free from here

I wish it is useful to you :)

@IvanBest

No disrespect but in general if you compress a movie to 1/10 of its original form you are going to lose quality period. It may not be noticeable on the little screens of iPods and PDA's but when those same files are viewed on a 20in. screen it looks horrible.

@WayOut

Did you try Daemon Tools?

Okay sorry to hear that you had trouble with the Daemon Tools. I use it everyday and its a priceless piece of software. I took the liberty to find a working download for your pc (based no the specs you posted)
Heres the link:
http://www.download.com/3001-7970_4-10497780.html
Once clicked this download should start automatically.
One possible reason Daemon Tools might not work is that it has versions for both 32-bit and 64-bit Operating Systems. So if you have Windows XP Pro (32-bit edition, which is what nearly all have) and you download the 64-bit version of Daemon Tools thats why it won't work. And to be able to keep the product free the people at Daemon Tools added a search bar that delivers text ads to you. If you dont want this installed its easy to remove from the installation. In the window were you chose what components you want just "deselect" the checkbox for Daemon Tools Search Bar.

heres what I posted in another thread on a similar topic:

DVD shrink is awesome. Use that to get it off the DVD and onto your HD.

Once you have shrunk it to your HD, then use a DivX encoder to get the movie down to a decent size. DVD Shrink will take a dual layer disc down to 4gb and then DivX can get that down to 700mb. perfect...

then when the price is right, get a NAS and a media centre (buffalo or something) and stream your movie collection over wlan! Awesome stuff....

i want to thank everyone involved with helping me resolve my issue. although i couldn't download a working version the link works perfectly with only one exception, it didn't want to play the iso that i shrunk to 1500 but played the 4500 one.. it gave an error saying something about file size so i'll try shrinking again to that size and see what happens..

Thanks again... Way

well i thought i would let everyone one know that i have tried shrinking the file again, this time i tried at 1600mb and it played without any problems.. trying to conserve on space i tried shrinking again to alot less, 700mb which gave me sound and nothing else.. not sure what was up with that one.. but at 1600mb it opened, played, and even had a pretty good pictures..

i put in a region one dvd and it recoginized it, said i needed to change my options for region to region one, so i did, which i knew but wasn't staying changed, but i still cannot get it to read any of my burned dvds most of my burned dvds are burned with xcopy express.. should i just use shrink and decrypter, would that solve that problem??
