movie skips when burnt with nero 6

when i download a avi file,it plays on my computer great pic and sound,But when i convert the avi-dvd using win,and burn the dvd file with nero,it burns successfully,then play it on my dvd player and it works til about half way through and then pic starts jumping and skiping for the rest, could someone PLEASE help me,do i need a codec for nero to burn the movies properly?? ANY HELP WILL BE EXTREAMLY APPRICATED.thanks

Play your video after you convert your AVI to dvd format and see if the video and audio are fine. If it is, you might be burning too fast. Also, it might be the quality of your media. What speed are you burning at and waht media are you using?

when i play the avi file on my computer once it's downloaded,the sound and pic quality is great.its when i convert my avi/dvd it skips,i am using LOGIK DVD-R discs,they are expensive enough,im burning at 8x on nero burning rom,it takes about 5-10 min to burn a movie,is that too fast and should i use nerovision express to burn instead?is it something to do with converting avi/dvd using win converted?is there another way to convert

There are probably many softwares out there that can convert AVI to dvd. This is the method I use:

Before burning onto a DVD, play the movie on your computer just to make sure video and audio are fine. If it's fine on your computer, then it is most likely your disc. I have never heard of Logik so I cannot comment if that is a good media. Maybe you can try burning them at 4x. Or try using Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden and see if those media are better.

Make sure you had installed right codec.
do you have divx/xvid codec?
BTW,I think WinAVI is the best tool to do the AVI to dvd conversion.
