I have been trying to burn Chicken Little for a day now and have many coasters to show for it. I have an HP dvd740b burner (latest firmware) and Nero 7 Ultra (also, updated to latest version). This is a new computer I just built and I hav only burned a few dvds on it so far but now I'm stuck.

I've got Shrink 3.2 and I started the whole pocess with pgcedit using the pluggin PSL2 (ARccOS)- Wizard Mode. This removes all the junk and sends it to Shrink. Everything goes fine until the burn process and during which I get the following error log. Please advise :)

Thanks for your input. First off, I followed your advise and checked out the thread you pointed me to. I was able to completely solve the problem by re-enabling my Ultra DMA 2 mode. I have always had good luck with the 16X TDK media I'm using but I may give Verbatim a shot since so many people recommend them. Again, thank you!

So just how bad are the cmc mag m01?

I had been using the Verbatims from Sam's Club but have a Costco membership now and they only carry TDK (cmc mag m01) printable DVDs.

I have a spindle of the TDKs and no problems with the first 12 burns (8x on the PC and 1x on the set-top). If I start getting coasters, I'll switch to something else but am worried about life-span (compared to the Verbatims) which won't be noticed until too late.

I'm about to copy a bunch of regular Verbatim DVD+Rs and -Rs to printable DVDs and would be pretty mad if I replaced good DVDs with ones that will give me problems down the road.

@RLyon
CMC well is bad to say the least. My experience with it along with many others has not been good even with up to date firmware. Discs that burned ended up degrading - no longer able rerip and had playback problems.
Just my 2 cents but I won't recopy to Verbatims to the cmc. Verbatims and Taiyo Yuden are made with advanced azo dye which is a superior dye.
If you want to copy them to printables than buy some Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden printables. This site (US) has great sales on both:

Thanks Binky,

Fortunately I bought the TDKs at Costco and they cheerfully refunded the full purchase price when I returned the unused ones from the spindle.

Then I ordered several Verbatim printable spindles (50 DVD) on-sale at Newegg on the weekend for $20 each with free shipping. Ended up even cheaper than I'd been buying the Verbatims at Sam's Club when you factor in sales tax.

BTW, there are some companies I won't deal with just on principles and Supermedia Store is one of them. My reason is that they rate even crap media as 5 out of 5. So, for example, people who don't know any better would think cmc mag m01 was actually the best there is!
