My computer doesnt turn on and when it does it turns off at random times, and the moniter shows no signal, could this be a problem with my powerbox

Most probably. Check the power connectors. If you are replacing your disk drives often like me this could be it. I had this problem twice had to replace my power units...
Try replacing your power unit.
Anyways, if your PCs under warranty call tech support. Removing power unit may void it.

first of all if turns on the power is doing what i should but first check your ram and vga card. if those are ok then the power supply should be check or replace

IN YOUR mobo bios in pc health or pc monitoring you can see the voltages commonly they are 12v,5v,3v check if yours is above or below those standar values.
about watercoolers im not a pro at that because im an aircooler fanatic (of course water rules!!)

But not in PCs, I wouldn't touch it.
If it's turning off after it's been turned on, then either something's getting too hot or your PSU is faulty. If the PC's under warranty, have it checked. If not, replace the PSU (with an expensive one)

Did you check the connectors? Remove all DVD drives and secondary HDDs and try changing the main board PS connector. It worked for me once.
...and you are right... When it comes to PCs water sucks!

Sometimes a corrupt windows can cause symptoms like you are having. My PC would shut off at random times and re-installing Windows fixed it. However, I did not have a problem turning on the computer.

Software will never cause an instant shutdown, maybe a blank screen or a BSOD or whatever, but not an instant shutdown.

I'm sorry, you are correct, it would restart at random points not shut down. It was a little late when I replied... However, no BSoD and no errors reported. Basically I could be browsing the internet or something and then out of no where the PC would restart!!!

Yes, but that's only caused by high-level viruses, (and also Star Force 4 but that's basically a virus too)
Edit: Oops, another hasty reply. It can also be caused by Memory errors and CPU power interruptions but we get less likely with those the more we go on!

I just reread my original post with the problem (from about 1 year ago), and it seems like you were right about the virus. I thought is was my W2K partition, but it was WinME, which I had 1/3 of my HDD filled with garbage!!!
I actaully did not re-install windows, I just got rid of WinME and installed WinXP Pro and W2k in a dual boot config. However, I did not merely format. I formated, Wiped, reformatted, removed the parition, reformatted again and then installed with the option to format.
What would cause the memory errors and CPU power interruptions though?

Well if you had memory that was playing up, that can cause a spontaneous reboot, and if the CPU suddenly stops communicating with the bus, that can also do it (a power drop as one example). But not turning on at all leaves down to power only. Even with no CPU, hard disk RAM or graphics card, a PC will turn on and run the fans as long as the ATX is plugged in.

sammoris is right autoreboot can be memory,defective hard drive check in the webpage of your hard drive manufacturer for diagnostic tool soft (in d.o.s) maybe your hard drive has somer bad sector (commoly damage by voltage related porblems) and scan your pc for virus at: http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/activescan.asp?Language=2

i have this exact problem, so i switched the power supply. It worked well for 2 days but after that the problem came back. what should i do now

with my old power supply, it restated so bad that sometimes it doesnt even start. With the new one im using as we speak it works for a little over 10 minutes before shutting down. I dont know the make of the model, but i do know its 450 watts, i think

If you've changed the PSU and it's helped the problem but not solved it, I'm still thikig your PSU is at fault. Which make is it and how much did it cost? You can see the model by lookig on the side of the unit.

thanks i found the problem though. the things around the cpu, thouse cylinder things soldered to the mother board, was leaking. i bought a new motherboard and it fixed up the problem

Something many people overlook when troubleshooting computer problems,myself included!
Note to self-remember capacitor swelling and leakage check!
