Hi, sorry if anything related to this had been posted but is the Verbatim Made in Taiwan DVD-R(8X)good for burning PS2 backups, some places I here they are good and some place I hear they aren't. And beside's the Verbatim DVD-R I find are only made in Taiwan. So I just want to know if these discs are good for playing my PS2 Backup.

I am sorry but one more question, what kind of CD-R brand would you recocmend just to burn CDLoader7all onto.
Since I am new to this, I picked up some Maxell made in Japan DVD-r's and I got this when I used DVD Identifier(http://apr18.imghost.us/dqkver.png), are they good quality or bad? It is made by Hitachi.

Ravman I ordered some 8x Verbatim DVD-R from newegg.com that were made in Taiwan and they have been perfect so far. No skipping and no coasters Ive backed up about 10 games with them. So I would recommend them. About $25 after shipping for the ones with the white surface.

For real, do you know what company manufactured them. Could you please try to scan your Verbatim DVD-R with DVD Identifier and post a screen like I did. Please. This will greatly be appreciated.

Nope...they are MCC 02RG20. I love these discs! Sorry for the late post, but yea if you still want to get some newegg.com is probably the best spot. The ones with the that say "white hub printable" are good cause u can print ez with a sharpie or print a label directly on the backup if u have the right printer. Let me know if u get some...they are cheap but super high quality...i get 96+ on the disc quality scans.

k, thanks soccROX, I am going to buy some Verbatim's made in Taiwan from my local staples here in Canada. I will try to find the kind you are reccomending and see if they work.

chances are staples will not carry the same ones I purchased online. And like Mike said they could be CMC mag. Which are terrible! I would recommend buying them online. Unfortunately newegg and supermedia do not ship to Canada. I would stick to the reputable sites though. Read some of the forums to check places that do. Good luck mate!

okay, thanks for the advice soccROX, I got a question though. Do JAP games (backup) need to be patched like with the NTSCtoPAL or PALtoNTSC Patcher in order to play on my NTSC PS2?

That depends on the mod-chip you have. If you have a MI chip or the DMS chip I believe they both force NTSC/PAL modes. So you do not need to patch if you have either one of these. Example: I have a NTSC ps2/TV but I backup PAL games and have the settings on my MI Green Dot chip set to PAL and it reads the games perfectly. Otherwise if you are using like swap magic or somethin similar u need to patch with the pal2ntsc converter and maybe another patcher depending on the game.

Hi, I am using a Fliptop and Swap Magic 3.6 to play my backups. So what your saying is you might need to convert a JAP game to NTSC to play properly on my PS2.

Yep...you definately will need to. Unless you have a newer TV and it supports PAL, but most are NTSC so it most likely you will need to convert from PAL to NTSC
